Agent Orange Indictment

Trump facing 7 charges, most probably including some under the espionage act. We will find out details next week.
Also, check out Mike Pence on CNN doing his best Vicky Pollard "Yeah but, no but" routine to try and say he's all for equal justice and punishing criminal behaviour yet we shouldn't be indicting the former president.

As Mike Pence is running he must have some skeletons in the closet otherwise this would be a terrific opportunity for him to sit back and watch one of this main rivals be turned to orange dust.

I think the hardest thing will be to find 12 jurers who haven't shown preprejudice against him on social media to get a fair trial.

He has been indicted in Florida. I think it will be a lot easier for him to find allies in a jury there.

Hopefully the judge will effectively order that their identities are not disclosed as they will likely be under extreme pressure from him and his supporters to acquit.

He really is the lowest of the low it would be so good to consign him to the history books.

38 charges 😁
However, the judge is Eileen Cannon, the same judge who bent over backwards to grant him a special master to review the documents after they were seized. She was roundly criticised for that by most of the legal profession and as she is a Trump appointee I doubt his new team of lawyers will try and suggest she is partisan against him.
Reading the indictment makes you think he's going down for a long stretch, but I doubt it'll be straightforward and there'll be all sorts of arguments being used to test the legal framework.

Not sure if she will be assigned the case or just dealing with the initial arraignment of Trump.

The 11th circuit appellate court knocked down her decisions in the earlier part of the case and as you say she was roundly criticised by many legal commentators for her actions.

Can she deal with the case fairly?

Will she protect witnesses, the prosecution staff and the jury? The NY judge did can she ignore the line taken by the state court?

I saw the headline & the Vietnam war was my only reference.. Orange Orangutan.. would have been more along the lines..

It will be an interesting time for him & his stooges..

The best bit about this is that he’s being done under a law that he signed an executive order for to try and nail Hillary Clinton.😀
It would have been deliciously ironic if that were the case, but he wasn't actually charged with mishandling classified documents, which is the offence he got changed from a misdemeanor to a felony.

He's been charged with 31 counts of wilful retention of national defense information, 3 counts of withholding or concealing documents in a federal investigation, 2 counts of making false statements and one count of conspiracy to obstruct justice.

The obstruction of justice charges are in some ways the most serious, and carry the longest potential sentence (up to 20 years, though he's unlikely to get the maximum).
