The Great Escape was mainly filmed in Bavaria Germany (Stalag Luft III was in Poland). If you love the film as I do and interested in seeing the locations the motor bike scenes took place just outside a town called Fussen. The chase around the town scenes when Big X and Macdonald are caught is Fussen itself. Great place for a long weekend. A few miles outside Fussen is Castle Neuwantstein, the mad King Ludwig’s amazing folly and featured in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.

Enjoyed Guy Martin's programme where he sets out to recreate the iconic motorcycle movie stunt at the climax of the film
but unlike Steve McQueen's film character, he aims to successfully clear both fences.

Remember the BBC series Dunkirk, which showed different areas leading up to the evacuation, starts off in a small building when the British soldiers start shooting at the advancing unexpected Germans, the Germans then surround em & capture them, put em in a small barn & throw a grenade in to kill em all

Try getting in on Netflix without success
