Americas Cup

Got to my managed isolation hotel this afternoon. Just watching. GB have had a bad time in the run up to this challenger Event so don’t hold out big hopes for them but glad they seem to have sorted the issue particularly in light winds.

And blimey it’s a scorcher here In Auckland. This is taking place just a few miles up the road.

And a great result. Beating the US in race 1. Italians tomorrow.

Cheers mate. The feedback from the hotel so far is nothing but positive. The army guys super friendly and the checking in so efficient from getting on the bus to being allocated our room. Thankfully have a small balcony looking out over the pool complex (out of commission naturally). Bag of courtesy pineapple lumps awaiting on the desk

The Prada Challenge Cup is between GB, Italy and USA and the winner of the Cup goes through to Challenge NZ for the Americas Cup

The Prada Cup will consist of four Round Robins of three races each ( they race each other once per RR), the top team goes through to the PC Final and the other two go intro the semi final ( a repecharge) - it is a seven races Semi-Final and the winner meets the team that finished top in a 13 races Final. Each win gets one point.
 
Day 2 delayed for lack of wind. Also Italy have formerly complained about the British boat yesterday that it was technically illegal. Upheld and British boat has had to modify for today’s races. However both wins remain.

Interesting to see how this affects the British challenge now.
 
And the Anericans on the final leg of their race against Italy and way way ahead capsize!! Dramatic fail by the Americans.
