Writer, musician, composer, nightclub host, curator, actor and adventurer, Richard Strange was born in London in 1951. Since his proto-punk rock band Doctors of Madness (“The missing link between David Bowie and The Sex Pistols…” wrote The Guardian in May 2017) was first unleashed on an uncomprehending public in 1975 (the band were supported by The Sex Pistols, The Jam and Joy Division) he has been a Zelig-like figure whose presence has been felt in every corner of London's cultural life.
Now comes his solo show An Accent Waiting To Happen, an evening of songs, films clips, stories, readings and downright scurrilous gossip from his 40 years in the arts and entertainment world.

Wasn't Penetration one of the DoM's support bands as well?

When playing Redcar, Strange would make a comment about the 'Blade Runner' vista from the Parkway.

I saw him support The Psychedelic Furs in the UK just a few years ago.

Strange indeed.

I'm away that weekend, otherwise I'd have been all over this! I'd thoroughly recommend it - I once did an hour-long interview with Richard on BBC Tees, and he's one of the most brilliant raconteurs I've ever spoken to. The Peter Ustinov of proto-punk. It'll be fantastic.

went to see them with a mate midweek at the rock garden , nearly empty maybe 20 max ... no support band... Date? maybe 78 ish

Amazing career including appearing in four episodes of Men Behaving Badly, the Batman film, Harry Potter and touring in Hamlet.
