Another Brexit "benefit"- sorry but I just can't help myself

I'll say it again BM, I would agree if it weren't for additional measures that weren't there prior to the UK leaving the EU. France increasing it's EU quota and the EU commissioned repot on how non-eu TV effects EU diversity.
Looks like you agree then. Article from May 2016 talks about France's 60% quota.

Jesus lads, I am not arguing they are not allowed to. nor that they are protecting their trading block, I am arguing that the reason for the commissioned repot (not sure about France, WOW says thats been there for years, I don't know) is to limit UK TV. As a part of Europe we are not treated the same as a non EU non European programme provider. The report seeks to remove the European privelige on the grounds it damages EU diversity.

Now believe that if you want to, I am fine with that, I certainly don't. The EU weren't worried about the European privelige before the UK left the EU, now they are.

The reason is that the EU has left the UK.

The reason is that the EU has left the UK.
AAAARGGGHHHHHH It's not the reason. As a European country the UK does not fall under the same limits on TV as the rest of the world. This is nothing to do with the UK being out of the EU. Even out of the EU we have European privelige when it comes to TV programs shown in the EU.

The Eu are seeking to end that privelige. This is not a brexit/remain rant. The normal rules do not apply to the UK because we are still part of Europe and have European privelige for programming in the EU. The EU are seeking to end that.

I thought this was quite simple, I really did. Maybe I have it all wrong!

They demonstrably were, as the quota was proposed in May 2016 as 20%, before finally being ratified in 2018 as 30%
Let me try one more time, then I am done.

The 30% does not apply to European countries, it applies to non european countries. this is irrespective of whether the European country is in the EU or not.

There is a special dispensation for non EU members who are part of Europe. The EU are seeking to end this. It has nothing to do with the 30% EU content quota.

You can argue amongst yourselves now, I'll pop back from time to time to see how it's going.
