Ants

We've had them in our kitchen. Seem to be coming through a tiny crack between the kitchen worktop and wall.

Got a shock after I'd bought a takeaway pizza, ate half and when I'd returned later to eat the other half I'd discovered what seemed like hundreds of ants crawling over the pizza. Was a good way of catching them to be fair.

It depends what type of ant they are if they are black or yellow ants then they are completely harmless(don't bite or sting) so as long as they keep to the outside then I would just let them be, if I start noticing scout ants or a trail of them in the house then I would find where they are entering by following the line and put some ant powder there. If it is red ants(European fire ant) or reddish black ant(wood ants) then I would follow the trail and put some powder directly on the nest as these can give a fairly painful sting. Im sure I have read somewhere but not actually witnessed it the the wood ants can spray formic acid which I find amazing but still don't fancy being on the recieving end.

Got them all over the front garden. Found a couple of nests and put some of those Nippon bait stations near them.
The ants have had zero interest in them and have just got on with life 🤣

Ha that would likely be my story too but I've just left the blighters alone for now.

We had them front and back - hundreds running over the floor, walls and window frames. Tried all the traps, powder, bait stations - none worked. Went on line to look at remedies and one worked perfect - never came back! It was bleach - cheap stuff not domestoes as it’s too thick - pour it into a plant sprayer. We sprayed the walls and floors outside and they disappeared. Repeated for about a week and never seen them again . Good luck whatever you use.

We steamed the patio with Dettol, invested in 2 bait stations and happy to report that it seems to have worked....so far.

Had a flying ant nest at a previous property, emptied a bottle of raid powder into a watering can and mixed with warm water then poured the mixture into the nest entrances. Worked well.

I find spraying lime/lemon juice keeps them away. They don't like the scent.
Prefer the sound of this, I love the birds (feathered, not Hitchcock) I wonder what happens once the insects have been poisoned, and what the knock on effect will be for anything that predates them. The reason I won’t use slug pellets, despite modestly growing fruit and vegetables.

Ants are deemed good luck and often appear where there are lay lines. But you need to keep them out of the house.
