If it’s not flawed logic, it’s flawed use of language. They are different fouls. They are three different events with different sets of facts. You can’t have consistency between them, because there is nothing to be consistent between. You can believe none is a foul, or one is a foul, or any two are fouls, or all three our fouls. And you can hold any of those beliefs and be perfectly consistent.

Oh, its mot this result, ive always had a dislike for Argentina 😅 They are like Sunderland, Newcastle and Southampton to me.

They are the Germany of South America, which is quite apt description given thats where most Nazi's fled.

Anyone but the Argies. I would prefer the Swiss beat them.
 
Can't believe grown men think there's a FIFA conspiracy to ensure Argentina win. I mean first of all why Argentina out of all the big hitters? Just because of Messi? Not sure he's even the most popular player these days.

Secondly how would it even work? You sit down all the referees before the tournament and tell them they have to give everything Argentina's way? That's referees from a wide number of countries, many countries with aspirations of winning the world cup themselves and whose day job is actually working for their respective FAs, not FIFA. And not one of them has an issue with it or leaks it to the press etc? Yeah sounds plausible 🙄

I mean just because there was clearly a similar meeting at the start of the championship season where refs were told to give Ipswich as many penalties as possible doesn't mean it's happened here. 👀
 
Is there anyone who thinks that there is a conspiracy to get Messi to the final or that the foul on Martinez wasn't a foul (it definitely was) or that the foul on Salah was a foul (it definitely wasn't) that doesn't believe that Ronaldo is the GOAT?

Seems to me that there are a lot of people that are not taking the end of Ronaldo's World Cup career very well.

Why do i have to be caught up in the media bullshyte between Messi and Ronaldo and this GOAT shyte. I dont much care for either but acknowledge their abilities over many years.

There seem as many sensitive Argentina supporters in this thread as much as anything that cannot handel someone saying they hope they lose.

It is true i dont particularly like Argentina, but that goes back to being a young kid in 1986.

I don't think there is a conspiracy
Hate Ronaldo - Messi is an infinitely better player.
Don't think it was a foul on Salah

But I also don't think it was a foul on Martinez - I feel slightly vindicated that the ref on The Athletic agrees with that.
 
Really hoped Egypt would win when they went 2-0 ahead.

Totally understand their emotions, but their disallowed goal was the correct call in my view. The apparent foul on Salah in the build up to Argentina's winner wasn't a foul either.
 
Have no complaints with the result at all. I wanted Egypt to win - underdog and all that and I absolutely believe that would have given England an easier passage to the final. But hey thats football and big teams find a way to win in adversity.

Don't think it's got anything to do with people liking Ronaldo. I do think Messi has been getting favourable treatment alongside Argentina though. Can't fault the decisions for disallowing the goal last night as it was a foul. But they haven't made the same decisions on VAR for other games. Don't think it was a penalty for Egypt either.

I laugh at everything bad that happens to Ronaldo cos he's a tosser. I do however find the love-in for Messi to be nauseating at times though. Probably the greatest player of time. Will say probably as I can't judge against era's I've not witnessed myself. Don't think he's a particularly amazing player still now though. He's still good but doesn't warrant the love-in for everything he does when the whole team is there basically to cover his weaknesses so he can conserve energy all game. A lot of other players would be better if they had permission to walk around the pitch all game and do what you want. He can't take penalties like an elite penalty taker can. It should not be a shock he misses.

The decision to rule out Egypt's 2nd goal (at the time) was harsh.

But that decision at the end on Salah was never ever a penalty.

All this corruption nonsense is mainly spouted by little Ronaldo fanboys who can't admit and can't take the fact Messi is lightyears above him in every department and has extended his legacy, whilst Ronaldo has tainted his legacy.

There's a 0% chance that should have been a penalty. There was a shirt pull but the player was 10 yards from the ball and had no chance of being near it and he then dived. The shirt pull didn't cause him to fall. There was just nowhere near enough of anything to be given a penalty. If the ball was 1 yard away there would be a question but it wasn't. If that was a penalty then we'd have a penalty every 30 seconds for every single off the ball incident.

i hoped they'd win, but seemed too unlikely so put £15 on Argentina at 20.0, good times.

That is a foul.
