At the final whistle on Saturday

When the final whistle went on Saturday I reckon 75% of Boro fans had already left… The team has just put in the best performance of the season, so why?and what must the players think ? , personally i love it after a victory when the lights start to flash and the music is booming and the opportunity is there to say well done

It's something I'll never understand, fans leaving early.

The fellas who sit in front of me always leave at least 10 minutes before the end. I'd thought maybe they have a legitimate reason but then one day noticed them both stood outside the Navi with a pint. Seems they literally leave early to beat the queues at the bar.

I tend to go down to the concourse at around about 90mins for a pee and watch injury time on the TV .. There's usually a lot of people do the same .. it then gives you a head start when the whistle does finally go.

It's something that really annoys me. I love staying for those extra 5 mins at the end of the game to clap the lads off after a good performance. They deserve it.

I actually pointed this out. North, East and West stands were streaming out but the South Stand was still full. Well done to the South Stand.

I used to say until 5 minutes after final whistle, to clap players off, however I now go down to the concourse in injury time as the players stopped walking to all parts of the ground and just go up to the south.

I've noticed this lately.

I think it was only really Howson and a couple of others that came to the North Stand on Saturday.

I'll always stay to the final whistle though, I don't think it's worth the risk of missing any late drama.

Probably just a reflection on modern society as much as anything else. People are always in a rush.

If you asked them what they were in a rush they'd probably struggle to tell you. Beat the traffic? Beat the queues? Got to get back for brain dead Saturday night television ?(which is all available on demand these days anyway).

Some would seemingly rather miss ten mins of a match (that certainly isn't cheap to go to) than have to sit in traffic for an extra 10 mins.

Doesn't make much sense to me, but each to their own .

Some fans leave early nowhere near 75% it tends to be older fans (from what I’ve seen) who must struggle walking in the crowd.

I stay a bit later, it has the same effect..

if the games in the balance i stay obviously, never understand leaving in that scenario, but at 2 nil it was safe to go down at 90 + 3 i'd say!
I've never understood it because you aren't there just to find out the result. Surely a goal in the 90th minute when you are cruising is still enjoyable.

I always think "what if?". No matter how unlikely it is that something might happen at 2-0 going into the 90th minute imagine leaving at 2 down and missing one of the greatest comebacks in history to save 5 minutes sitting in traffic.

It's a while since I've been now, but I always waited til the majority of fans had gone and I could stroll back at my own sedate pace. Like having a cigarette after sex (except that I don't smoke) I like to appreciate the moment after a good 'win'.
