I've never seen oway the lads and on my silk scarf in the 70's it read Howay.

Spelt howay/haway but in Teesside I think people generally drop the H unlike our 2 lots of friends up the road.

It was sang in the build up to games just before the start or the kick off from memory….
Also gone is ; boro boys we are here whoaaaaa…..

We need a retro singing matchday from the 12th man with these two songs and also

Back in those days the player chants were a lot more simple. Go Gary, Gary...Gary, Gary Gary Gary Hamilton. Or if struggling for a chant, just their name followed by 2 claps - Bernie, Bernie Slaven (clap clap) repeat.
