Booing taking the knee

It’s all good telling yourself that you don’t look at someone’s colour, but consider that the refusal to take note of race actually allows people to ignore manifestations of persistent discrimination.

Just because you say you don’t see colour, doesn’t mean that plenty of others do, and that people of colour all of a sudden aren’t discriminated on a regular basis.

Perhaps take some time to read about the term ‘colour blindness’ when it comes to racism.

‘By someone saying they ‘don’t see colour’, it means a lot of things, whether intended or not. Indirectly, it refuses to acknowledge that race shapes one’s life experience, and ignores the discrimination or injustice they have faced due to their race. As well as this, the fact that white people can simply ignore the presence of race demonstrates white privilege in action: people of colour are consistently reminded of their race through discrimination and therefore don’t have the luxury to ‘ignore’ it.’

Again bore off - I’m not here to take abuse from random people.
So, say there was a minutes silence or a clap/applause on the 28th minute for a fan who'd died, would it be ok to boo during that? It wouldn't, obviously.

What I'm saying is, Thats a positive gesture right? rememberance and applause, you wouldn't want to hear anyone being a d*ck during that. So, taking the knee is a positve gesture about standing together against racism.

Same ballpark in terms of argument as the "don't all lives matter" crowd.

The "let's pretend we're all the same" approach is nonsense. There's absolutely nothing wrong with acknowledging and even celebrating differences. In fact it should be encouraged. People are usually, rightly, proud of their culture and background.

It only becomes a problem when people are discriminated against or abused because of them.

Yes I do respect the minute’s silence I also buy a poppy every year and were it. I don’t go over the top if someone didn’t wear the poppy. The remembrance is for a world war that everyone was involved in. I don’t boo the knee so what’s your point. I don’t think it should be but I also don’t think it should be at football match but that’s my opinion or am I not allowed one as it’s not the same as yours

My point is that someone said that political gestures should be kept out of football. That’s what that is to a lot of people. So would it be ok to boo it? If not, why not?

I don’t think political gestures or taking the knee have a place in football. I go to watch a game of football. I also believe all lives matter
Thanks for the response.

Not wanting political gestures (I'd challenge how "political" an anti racist gesture is, but still) isn't an unreasonable stance. Not one I'd imagine many would feel strong enough to boo about and fair enough you don't. However seems unlikely those booing are doing so for that reason then.

I don't really understand the relevance of your last sentence. I think nearly everyone believes all lives matter. Taking the knee is not a statement saying otherwise 🤷🏼‍♂️

I find that defecating on the people booing will shut them up.

I do get regularly beaten up, but we're all having fun.
