Booing taking the knee

The one negative of today was hearing the south stand boo when Watford and the ref took the knee. How hard is this? Love boro, love the area, love my family and friends but always a shock when this stuff happens. Hits home at just how far behind certain sections of people in Teesside/north east/red wall etc in their views are.

Not defending the idiots but Millwall fans also boo players taking the knee - it's not just a North East thing

I have - it’s pointless virtue signalling, that’s why people boo. It came about after the George Floyd incident as we know but how long ago is that now - time to move on i think, it has achieved nothing other than to antagonise people
They aren’t kneeling for George Floyd, only an idiot would think they are

Why play the racism card? Just because people disagree with it doesn’t mean they’re racist.
As Les Ferdinand said, he could see the point at the start but how long does it go on? Eventually it loses its meaning and is counter productive.
Les Ferdinand stance is fine, do you think Les will start booing people taking the knee

We should really appreciate and applaud it, after all we’ve all been through the ringer on bigotry and all forms of hatred at some time in our lives.

I think that a lot of people call it banter, poking fun, taking the proverbial but it can have sizable effect on those who have to absorb it. We need to cut it out (somehow) by making education more focused on those who it hurts.

Hatred towards your fellow citizens/humans lingers on for more than the moment which is why we often see retribution in the form of violence come in many forms and may not end with one act. The scar left by hatred is often a life changing event which sometimes never heals and even though we often hear the term “move on” the scar will probably diminish but its memory will be carried for years and never really fully erase.
