Booing taking the knee

Are you on about the literal act of booing in and of itself is not racist (if so I would agree, booing is not racist).

In the context of booing specifically whilst a team is performing an anti-racism gesture then as this thread has shown, booing in this particular context is massively racist.

Feel free to educate me otherwise, as I've said above, I am waiting for an explanation to put my mind at rest.

Yep. The booing itself isn't racist, to determine that you'd need to understand why a person is booing.

The most likely explanation given what taking the knee represents is because the person booing it is racist, or is at least anti anti racism, which is pretty much the same thing. Occam's razor and all that, it's a reasonable assumption those doing it are racist.

However if there is another good reason for the booing, then it might not be racist. I've just not heard one yet!

Could to be that the people booing are saying 'look, we get the message, but please stop now because your preaching to people who arent racist' ?
Even our own team plus many other sports dont partake.

Please dont twist this into some sinister, I just refuse to accept that a section of our support is racist. I dont boo by the way.

Give over man, your argument here is pathetic.

No, I don't think it could be.

People in that position wouldn't object to the 5 seconds inconvenience of waiting while the players knelt. They'd simply wait in dignified silence, instead of going out of their way to be hostile.

Booing is a universal sign of disapproval and hostility, not "ok, we get the point". I wouldn't believe anyone who claimed to be booing for that reason.

As someone who isn't racist, I don't feel I'm being preached at all. I expect I'm in the vast majority on this?

🤦🏻‍♂️ It’s not preaching though.. it’s a gesture which lasts a couple of seconds. It’s not as though we all have to sit quietly with fingers on lips and watch an anti racist video on the big screen for 10 mins before every game.

Having been subjected to abuse from fellow Boro fans ,I can assure you that you are wrong.

I am not defending it, just putting out there a reason because I dont buy the kneejerk everyone is a racist shout the comes over on here.
Shut up man, you have been defending it since full time yesterday. You boo and anti racism and anti discrimination gesture which lasts 5-10 seconds, the reason for doing so can only be because you’re a racist bigot, now run along you cretin.

Unfortunately a section of our support is racist whether you accept it or not.

I've witnessed it at several away games and the behaviour was definitely not open to interpretation.

I’ll give you some credit you are very determined in your efforts to protect racists you don’t even know.

Imagine if you used that same energy to offer a positive message and condemn racism.

The fact you think there isn’t a racist element to our support suggests you are very naive so i think you need to grow up and see what is going on here. Even if just 1% of those that booed are inherent racists (with the rest being knuckle dragging idiots) anyone who boo’s embolden the racists to carry on spewing their bile.

I take your point and thank you for not making wild assumptions of me.
Not trying to protect anyone

of course we have some racist supporters, we have supporters who are also not racist but just ignorant, we have everything in the stadium every single match, as do all other clubs. Personally I’d say most of the supporters who boo are racist or ignorant, maybe not 100%, there’s always someone who has a compelling argument you’ve never heard.

And as per the above question, yes there are black racists too.

I'm astonished that a supporter of any football club could refuse to believe there is a racist element amongst their support base.

A football crowd is reflective of society, therefore presumably there is zero racism in society?

Can understand how it's such a bloody uphill battle when people won't even admit there's a problem.
