Boris new PCR rule - typical of his regime

I don't disagree witg acting quickly, I don't the government credit for much but I'm pleased to see them acting quickly for once. My frustrations are this; firstly, there has been no clear, unambiguous messaging from the useless loon we call a PM and he still won't talk straight preferring to muddy the waters just so he feels he hasn't lost face.

Secondly, they have made no announcements on timescales in regards to compulsory PCR tests and when they become effective, leaving people like me who are stuck abroad and travelling today not sure what the correct process is. Likewise with compulsory face masks in shops, when is it happening?

Strong leadership is being direct, clear and not misleading in any way. He has never demonstrated that.
Exactly

So LFT's have always been worthless? Fancy that. Still, at least a Tory donor or two have made it rich whilst the fish were swimming in the barrel.
They have helped kept covid out of the care homes I visit weekly. Without them either the old folk would have no visitors whatsoever for the past year or they would have been really vulnerable.

From bbc website not FCO website

He did not outline when PCR tests for overseas arrivals would be required, saying it would be "as soon as possible" but he needed agreement from all UK four nations. The government website said the change would be implemented from 04:00 GMT on Tuesday.

So as I land around 7 am on Tuesday i guess that’s me then.

Yeah, my kids land back in the UK at 7 on Tuesday...currently looking at buying PCR tests, panicking about missed university stuff (the reason they flew back Monday was to ensure they didn't miss important lectures/seminars etc) and wondering what to do with the LTF that they've wasted money on now.

According to that travel journal Simon Conway they are best off leaving it as late as possible to buy a PCR as it might not be introduced by the time they land. The PLF will be ok if they have the LTF test on for now too.

Until they vote on it (Monday?) it isn't law I don't think so the LTF will be still valid (hopefully).

Just landed at Newcastle and not a single security check, no passport checks, nothing to check your vaccination status. Literally straight through.

Crazy innit?

I chuckled when Javid said that Track n Trace would quickly contact people if they were in contact with someone with Omicron - it took them 8 days to contact me after my flight when someone on the plane had Covid. It better be speeded up!

It gets better

i try to do my passenger locator form and….

Luckily my youngest and her partner had booked PCRs at LHR, so they have to isolate in a hotel at Kings X (dont ask) before heading home for christmas. Hopefully they get the results back as they have a train booked 2 days after landing.

Are there any 2 day walk-ins around Teesside? If it's a postal, then you're looking at 4 days before being released?
I landed on Friday in Newcastle and also no checks apart from the passport control usual e gate check
TEES Medical Services do a day 2 test.
Failing that, I have normally had a drive to Newcastle Airport testing centre, gives the car a run out after being stood for a while. Usually get results same day or through the night, ready to go on day 3.

At Newcastle, all the locator forms and tests are linked now. Early days they weren’t. You’ll get hassled at home now.

Well arrived in Copenhagen earlier today and all went smoothly. Only been asked for a covid passport once so far, seems bars/restaurants are very lax on it. Hotel staff say masks don’t need to be worn either.

Must say first time visiting Denmark and can’t get over how clean the city is.

Enjoy your trip I’ve never been to Copenhagen but would love to visit.
