If we’re bidding 9m for a striker though, it will be interesting when we end up loaning some 19 year old from the prem on deadline day.

Groningen could be stuck with a player than now said he wants to move on. He and his advisers think the latest bid is high. If he doesn't move on its not a healthy situation for him or his club.

Groningen will have to significantly increase his wages and this the wages of other payers at the club, to keep everyone content. If he forms drops the fans will quickly be on his back etc.

If we invest in another striker we will pull out.

He was literally "screaming" [only two days ago] to be let go by his club - claiming they were being greedy and he wanted to play for us in the Champo.
I suspect he will be off or his club will have one pzzd-off player on the books.
£9M for a player at a club that size is over-generous in the first place.
Shot themselves in the foot.

I’m just relieved we’ve kept that extra 2m euros they want. Phew. Not that it’s my money. But when I see that 2m euros banging in a hat trick on Sunday I’ll be buzzing. UTB!!!

I've heard we're going to play one of those oversized cheques, with £9m written on it, up front on Sunday. Would probably be more effective than last years strikers.

Agreed. As I've said previously, I'm be livid if a Boro player courted a move so publicly.
Not really again that’s how Dutch football works it’s a selling league ( see overmars quote) players know it’s a step to one of the top leagues.

btw he’s not Dutch so how did they get him.
