Boro's superstar centre forwards

If you aren't including Yakubu then I think you need to define 'superstar.'
He is on the cusp.

Would average Joe football fans in Europe have heard of Yak? Maybe the ones who played us in the UEFA Cup, but not that many others in my view, unless they avidly followed the PL.

I'm confident they'd all know Rav, Boksic, Hasselbaink and Negredo.

Negredo scored 9 goals for us in 36 games, although I really like Negredo, that isn't superstar status and I bet there are many Boro fans who have even forgot he played for us.

Regarding Euro fans knowing the Yak, we've been down that route before with Bobby Charlton and after that discussion, it became clear you had already made your mind up.

I don't mean just judged on their time here. Negredo is a bigger name globally than Yakubu, that doesn't mean I think he was better or better for us, cos he wasn't. In fact I didn't really like him that much.

Well Yakubu and Bobby Charlton are two different people y'know, and it was an entirely different question/debate.

But yes, my opinion is that Yak wasn't that well known across Europe (he had a more domestic profile), apologies if yours is different.

No sh1t Sherlock, you could be a detective.

You've already made your mind up and if we don't agree with you then we are wrong. Pointless trying to continue the discussion - I'm out.

Whose 'we' and who says you are wrong? You're basically spitting your dummy out because I questioned myself for adding Yakubu to my own OP, because you think he was mint (he was very good for us and no one has disputed that). Grow up fella, these are opinions. Yours is no more worthy than mine. Start a thread about Yakubu if you want to. No need to get all emotional about it.

I still feel like Hasselbaink is remembered the most affectionately (not as the best). The consensus of Boksic seems to be that he was brilliant but a kn0b, isn't it?

Viduka and then JFH for me, I just wish Viduka hadn’t gone to the Geordies directly after us, but at least he flopped there and got relegated with them.

It’s nice to see JFH getting involved with Boro recently doing that interview with Akpom.

I think hasselbank only got a bit of stick because he was such a moaner on the pitch, always getting on other players backs. Mostly Downings tbf who was still the golden boy at the time. Since he stopped playing its easy to forget that stuff and just remember the goals, of which he scored many important ones. Plus he's done a fair bit of media stuff and comes across as a decent bloke.

Boksic the best for me though. He made it look so easy. If only he'd actually cared, his good he could have been.

Lee Dong-Gook. He was terrible for us but he was really successful in South Korea. 100+ international caps, record scorer in K league and also loads of individual accolades at his peak he was classed as one of the best players in Asia. Superstar status I would say he was up there, skill wise for us he is one of the worst.

147 goals in the red and white and Bernie not even mentioned, he scored more than that lot put together albeit mainly at a lower level.
Viduka and Boksic were insanely good on their day

In terms of global star level Bernie doesn’t deserve a mention. This is not about who was our best striker. FWIW Slaven was my boyhood hero and from what I can tell on here there’s only me even listens to his podcast. 😁

It’s true he was a superstar in the far East, or at least for sure in his own country.
