Brad Jones

Take my hat off to him on a lucrative career but how he ever made it as a pro is beyond me! By far the worst keeper I’ve seen in a Boro shirt and that’s including Guzan, Betenelli and Lumley.

Never as bad as some of the "experts" on here would have you believe. An awful lot of our fans have a real blind spot when assessing keepers. We still got screams of "get rid" at Steffen even in the Play off games.

Not the best keeper we've ever had but far from the worst and (from all accounts) a decent guy. Good luck to him in whatever he does next.

Happy for him to have done as well as he has in his career but make no mistake about it, he was bloody awful.

Nowhere near the worst keeper we've ever had. Certainly, he was younger and inexperienced and sometimes flapped at things, but by all accounts went on to have a very decent career and went through personal tragedy that most of us thankfully will never have to live with.

Seems a very decent bloke too, happy retirement to him and best of luck to whatever he does next.

Whatever you think of him he has suffered a terrible loss and he played for us and from the outside seemed a decent person. That’s how I will remember him.

I always thought that he appeared not the most confident of keepers, but I remember one match at home to West Brom (where we won 4 nil I think) he was absolutely outstanding for the first 20 minutes. We could have been 4 nil down ourselves before half time.

Hope he looks back at his time here with pleasure and pride and hope he enjoys whatever life has in store for him.

He was back up and then the replacement for the best goalkeeper I’ve seen play for us. I think that made him seem even worse.
Good career after leaving us though and not what I would have predicted.

Keepers are fair game to criticism it seems, more so than any other position on the field. There was a TV documentary about that a while ago, and it was sad to see the effect that had on some well known and international standard keepers.

Jones was understudy for most of his time with us. He was only briefly our 1st choice. He has done well for himself in his career, so hats off.

Don’t think the comments have been too bad in this thread have they?
Limited, worst keeper we have ever had and bloody awful just a couple that jump out. The man has just retired after playing in the premier league for us and Liverpool, assisting us in getting to a European final also, he’s had a better career than most of us could dream of.

His ability was limited. In the same post I said fair play to him for achieving what he has done. Even he won’t believe he’s managed to do what he’s done I bet.
