Brexit , the negatives

It may not be your intention Adi but frankly that's the way it presents. There's a cycle that occurs where you post prolifically and wind up the usual group of idiots (as well as some of the sensible balanced folk) until you get unjustifiably hounded and flounce away from the board for a few months, usually from a relentless and childish reference to "Shelvey plus one other."

Like I said, I can't think of anything I'd disagree with you on. I can empathise with the notion of trying to talk sensibly with people who can't or won't be open minded or dismiss simple facts in discussions. It's just a glaring issue that comes to light when some people are making their point.

Then we will have to simply agree to disagree. I’ve read my contributions to this thread and stand by all of them. People must have a really really thin skin if any of my posts on here are construed as sneering. They are all entirely reasonable, courteous and respectful. And to be perfectly honest I don’t really care if people take them in the way you describe. You can’t please everyone. I’m used to robust and strong communications. If people can’t take it then it’s up to them. As I said, it doesn’t make them right.

I don’t recognise that pattern either. It’s not accurate. What actually happens is that a number of posters have a personal problem with me (largely because I can argue a point) and very often whenever I post they are instantly there with a personal attack irrelevant to the point and it escalates. That is a very very well trodden path

Your contributions to the board go way beyond this thread Adi. Lots of us have been here a long time.

Courteous and respectful? Just goes to show that we all have our blind spots, even the smart guys.

Like you say, let's agree to disagree. I've got no axe to grind with you personally.
Enjoy your bank holiday 👍🏻

It's a figment of the imagination of people with an anti EU sentiment that EU countries are making an issue of the AZ vaccine for political reasons. How about the non EU countries who are doing the same. Indonesia, DR Congo, Thailand, Norway .. etc. Have they got a political agenda
This is the infuriating thing isn't it? I hear brexiteers constantly complaining about the EU playing politics with the AZ vaccine. When people point out Norway were one of the initial instigators if issues it just gets ignored. It's a typical brexiter response. just utterly ignore fact and use half truth that suit your narrative. This is why people like me get so annoyed and angry with Brexiters. Their utter inability to face the truth.

I know they do but presumably you were holding this thread up as an example. I make a point of never getting personal, never insulting anyone and always addressing the points raised. And yes they are both courteous and respectful. Don’t confuse robust, strong arguments with something else. That’s very much a blind spot.

You enjoy yours too.

Mind you, when I say figment of the imagination, that's not 100% right, the sentiment has been engineered by those with an agenda.

It is apparent the perceived influence when it comes to politics from the FMTTM message board is grossly exaggerated.
Most don't give a toss , the others myself included just bang heads together with the same protagonists. which is at most about 10 people.

I consider it mostly an exercise in writing grammatically correct sentences and a skill which I can use in the real world to argue a case. Im still learning.

The grammer and spelling is what's most important 😁

Adi, some people have to play the man, because they haven't got the ability to play the ball. It happens a lot around here and in wider society.

I don’t for one minute believe that the vast majority of people voted to leave for reasons of racism or xenophobia.
Unfortunately for that argument, the actual reasons given by the majority of leave voters would seem to undermine it.

This was posted before in this thread but here is the word cloud of the responses given by leave voters to the question of why they voted for Brexit (they were allowed to choose multiple reasons).

...and if you look closely enough immigration should be bigger, but people can't spell it so imigration is in the top 20 and immagration in the top 50. You can then add words that are related such as migration to really understand the biggest drivers.

You just used the worlds biggest nonsense response. Pathetic
If being out of the EU is related to UK's better vaccine roll-out then surely it must also be related to the UK having a worse death rate than most of the EU countries. So, swings and roundabouts I suppose. Or maybe there are no causal links.

Our vaccine roll out began whilst still subject to EU regs. It’s a nonsense.

This seems another Tory voter with a ‘Labour is finished’ mantra.

Disappointing and just represents further decline for our once proud country and more food banks.

But if the masses are happy with that then so be it.
HC - Totally wrong on point 1 - look at the Avatar - where does you think the image comes from? and you are not writing about me with your other point(s).

An apology would be nice.

Someone told me robins are so aggressive they are known to attack their own reflections. I am sure they believe they are perfectly justified. It can't do them any good, but they continue to do it.

I love Robins, love to see them in the garden, beautiful friendly birds

When I was young my mam told me they are a loved one coming down to look over us
When I'm gardening & a robin is usually hoping around me I like to think it's my brother

They are, they're very territorial. If you see a robin, very often there are no other small birds near it - there's a reason for that!
