Bringing your dog to work

It depends on the dog, the place, and the people who work there.
There's certainly benefits for the workplace and for the dog if people are on board with it.
Like anything it's case by case.

A guy who worked for me would bring his dog in. The dog was lovely and well behaved, however I found that I was looking after him too much, as his owner was out of the office on site visits. Did find it difficult at times, as I needed to go out of the office but couldnt leave the dog unattended.

In another work place, we had a giude dog, again the dog was lovely, but used to get into everyones belongings to eat our packed lunches. It was also tricky to work out when it was working or not, we werent allowed to play with it when it was working, resulting in us ignoring it most of the time.

These situations require a clear set of rules and communication, otherwise it becomes awkward.

Speak up against it and you’re a potential candidate for firing lol 😆(aye, aye animal hater here we need to cancel him, oh yes he’s a man too)

If the dogs trained and well behaved and the individual has their own office I think it’s fine, if it’s a shared or open office then no it’s not acceptable for me.

In hospital and care homes we get "Therapy Dogs" - in specific areas at specific times - from recognised trainers.

I think there is a fine line. If I bring mine in what if my colleague does? And what if they don't get on. Or my colleagues dog isn't well behaved.

Before long everyone is bringing their pets in, keeping them on their desks, parrots on shoulders, kids underdesks sleeping in cages or on baskets.

The place is carnage. I for one do not want to risk this escalation. Its a no from me.

You can't keep kids in cages, they outlawed that a few years back. ;)
