Britt Assombalonga

This is the best thread on this forum tonight, comments are absolutely spot on. Putting Woodgate to one side this club will not be able to move forward until players like Britt, Nmecha and Gestede (and one or two others) are binned for their shear lack of effort. It is becoming very annoying, almost uncomfortable, to sit in the stadium and watch them. Britt did nothing after he came on and Nmecha couldn’t even be bothered to challenge for the ball, he was just embarrassing. These players are soaking up key positions in the squad and a lot of money. We need them out and the quicker the better.

Brits bags will be packed and off he will go. Likewise Clayton, Shotton, Gestede and Ayala. We cant aford them and they are virtually either not good enough or past their best. No room for sentiment.
If anyone wants wing and Fry they can go too.

He’s gets double figure every season , no one else is doing that . Britt needs to start every game , Hel frustrate us no doubt but he’s our best bet right now . Nmecha might as well go back to city early .

I’m sorry but I can’t stand his lack of effort any longer, I don’t care any more about him getting the odd goal every few matches we need to rebuild and that needs to start now, not tomorrow, not at the end of the season, not sometime next season, not under yet another new manager, I mean now. And not just him, as fans of the club we deserve nothing less than 11 players who give their all.

I disagree with singling him out - he only played 20 minutes
He was poor , Nmecha and Fletcher too , but apart from Shotton Pears and Coulson who else deserves any credit?

Having said that come the Summer there s NOBODY I would lose a wink of sleep over if they left
Substitute 'and one or two others' for '9 or 10 others'
We're looking likely to be in Division 1 next season

Britt is a centre forward that needs several chances to score one goal. We dont create chances. He has nothing therefore to complement this team. Why JW thinks we can play the ball through the thirds with our lack of skill and pace is beyond me. We are so shockingly limited. Pulis got more out of the squad because he identified a way for it to be effective. Direct, percentage football. That has to be the mantra for the rest of the season.

How many does Bamford miss? But at least his team create chances for him
Do agree Nmecha looks like he'll go the rest of the season unlikely to score, which is why it's baffling he's brought on ahead of any other striker when we need goals

I’m not singling him out, I posted above that I think we need a number of players out of the club.

It’s about effort and attitude.

Look at what Howson, Coulson, Pears, Shotton and Tav gave for the shirt tonight.

I think we have some bad apples.

No matter how much Britt winds people up if he starts every game he’ll get 15 goals. We can’t say that about any other striker. He has to start

Totally agree HC. But who brings them in? that is the elephant in the room that I keep raising. The answer is Gibson, not the head coach. Until people are willing to accept the root cause, the root cause will remain immune and the blight continue.
This is not me calling for Gibson to go, that would be daft. This is me saying he needs a footballing CEO like a Kenyon type to make the footballing decisions as there is no getting away from common denominators as time progresses.

Wow, all this thread and no mention of just how bad fletcher is!

I personally thought a Britt was better than fletcher.
Not much to beat, but defo better.

Britt, fletcher, nmeche and gestede would strike fear into absolutely no defence in the world.
What a disgrace they are overall but to single Britt out is wrong imo

I’ve probably argued with you against that in the past but I think we are in such decline and disarray now that I’d be happy to see anything tried to clear the decks and start rebuilding properly.

I don’t think he is particularly being singled out but he cost more than anybody else, presumably his wages reflect that as well and he seems to lack effort and application. I’d be interested to see some stats on his shooting.

We have debated in the past and I take no pride in my thoughts, just huge sadness that SG is so parochial, blinkered and frankly self destructive through stubbornness it seems. I am soo grateful for his involvement, but angry at the decision making. I know he wants the best for Boro, but his record of late is irrefutable.
