Britts Wages......

We all knew he was pulling in a small fortune. Just read this Warnock quote from last night......

'We've got real value for money with the players we've brought in. I said to Steve we've signed five players and it's less than Britt's wages! He laughed at that'

He must have been some drain on the finances. No wonder we couldn't get shot😕

Did he really say that?

I think NW was not been completely literal, but was trying to make a point.

My guess is Britt was on around 35k/week, possibly get 3 players for that.
He won't be far off!! Take the transfer fees out and the combined weekly wage will be less than Britt Assombalonga's £35k a week no one will be over £7k a week out here:

Joe Lumley
Lee Peltier
Matt Crooks
Sammy Ameobi
Uche Ikpeazu

Add in Britt's transfer fee and total wages and we're getting no where near that this summer even with Payero, Muniz and others!

All solid championship players who will put the effort in. We know Ameobi can be a world beater one day and sunday league the next, but confident NW can get the best out of him. The rest are 7/10 minimum every game.

I love how we are signing these low risk players who we know will put the effort in and try their hearts out. As fans that's all we can ask for.

Championship wages are around £12k to 15k/week - George Friend was offered £13k/week to stay at the Boro. I would say bearing into account his age he is about average. Younger players get less and lower squad players. The parachute clubs its different and possibly some clubs like Wycombe, Rotherham/Blackpool's who have the budget at Div1/Champ crossover level say £8k/week.

You can't blame Britt for accepting the deal offered to him,but to say we didn't get value for money is a massive understatement!

You have lost your mind if you think Assombolonga was on just £35k per week.
Miles more.
I think we mainly settled on around 35k thinking it was ridiculous. I've seen things online saying over 40k.

The stunning thing is that Pulis said Braithwaite was one of the highest paid players in the champo. Also he would have been in the top 10 at his west Brom (in the prem). So how much was he on? I'm presuming more than Britt? The mind boggles😕

Assombolonga signed a four year contract on a £15m plus fee. He would be on every bit as much as Braithwaite.
pulis knew he couldn't move Assombolonga because of his wages, so he would never talk about them.

Absolutely madness spending and more so contracts. I'm suprised we've not gone under as couldn't have factored in covid.

In hindsight, are Braithwaite's wages that surprising when we look at where his career has gone since Boro? He may not have fulfilled his potential at Boro but the lad plays for one of the best clubs in the world and has just gone to the semis of the Euros with Denmark.

See also De Roon - we had a number of talented players over that couple of years who didn't play to their potential - that's either with the manager, coaches or CEO in my opinion.

We probably would have done if we didn't have Gibson. I've been critical of some of the decisions he's made in the past but there's no doubt we would be in a much worse off position if it wasn't for him.
