Buy a brand new iPod or get an iPhone and use Spotify?

I’d be looking at something like the Shandling M3 Ultra. Operates on Android platform. I’d use it to stream Qobuz but you can use Spotify too. You can also use preloaded SD cards if you can transfer files from a computer. Gives you Internet Radio and internet access too.

The cost to play albums you already own is one draw back.
Yeah of course, but economically surely you’re better off being able to access everything for a tenner or month? The cost of one album? I was easily buying one album a month back in the days of CDs etc.

It’s no different to when vinyl went out and tapes came in, then CDs, then mp3s. We all had to re buy loads of albums then surely?

Phone storage could be an issue I suppose though, so that’s one argument I probably hadn’t thought of before.

There's basically a test I do on Spotify every now and then to see if it's time to switch over. I search for Kahimi Karie. She is a Japanese artist I listen to. Worked with Momus, stereo total, Katerine, Cornelius that kind of thing. From the early 2000s. I figure if theyve got her stuff it might be time to start thinking about the change as she is one of the more obscure I listen to.

Still missing 4 albums. Including one that was released in the US.

The day I'm unable to outwit Spotify with some ***** obscure music I listen to will be a sad one indeed.

But surely you still have some of them or are you buying for the 4th(rough estimate you maybe had a mini disc player;)) time. Album, Tape, CD, and now streaming. Plus you assume everyone has a smart phone. I know quite a few who dont.

Plus I don't want to pay for Spotify and Deezer and Apple and Amazon all who have different bits and bobs to entice you in.

Me and my ipod (4th generation I think) from 2004 are still going strong. It has had 1 new battery and lasts for at least 8 hours of music for a charge,

To change the battery was a delicate operation / hassle with the hardest part being 6o get the ipod open.

The thing that caused the most hassle was when firewire was phased out as usb doesn't carry enough power to charge it. Had to search for a plug in the wall option about 15 years ago to keep it working.

It is a fantastic piece of kit that ranks as my best purchase ever.

You don't say which Ipod you have but is this helpful...........................

I'd given up looking for an Ipod battery replacement. Just been to see this outfit in their futuristic work space in the City. All done in an hour, professional looking, guarantee.

I suppose I should wait and see how long the battery lasts before giving feedback, but in the meantime, well done FMTTM!
