By 2050 a Quarter of Football Grounds Will Flood Annually

Tadcaster's ground floods quite often. Nearly 3-4ft deep. They still keep fighting. Some good people there.

What is the answer? As the Worlds Population continues to grow (as I type this the Population Growth this year alone has been 59,014,886) the demand for products used in everyday life will also grow and thus emissions released to the atmosphere in turn. Unless a drastic change is implemented, I fear for what is to come.

What I find surprising is that the sea levels say Redcar have not risen say in the last 40 years, but predicted to rise say 5 metres? in the next 10 years. I thought the rise was 1 cm a year so it would be 100 years before Redcar starting to flood.

In the World we are running out of fresh water - we will have to use desalination plants more and more - where does this water come from?

Surely the answer is investment in a flotilla of boats? I can see us now, ride of the valkyries blaring out as we come flying down the Tees ready to be dropped off at the dock 😎 Up the Riverside reds.

I remember reading that WBA's ground was the highest above sea level in England.

Fulham like most of London is protected from high tides by the very expensive Thames Barrier.

Thames Barrier or not there have been several flash floods in areas of London this year.
And there has been flooding either side of the Thames at Fulham in recent past.

We will need to sign a few more players then,
Danny Drinkwater
Kanu
George Boating !!
Kevin Poole
Darnel Fisher
Stuart Drowning

But I think we will need a few more to steady the ship???

True there has been flooding from flash fIoods, but I would tend to think flash floods affect basement flats, ground floors of houses, dips in roads etc. The rising Thames is reduced by the Thames Barrier in central London, by preventing problems from high tides which used to cause a lot of problems before it was built and potentially could be a regular problem if sea levels significantly rise. The barrier was built in 1982 on Teesside btw.

pretty sure the thames flood barrier will not prevent forecasted future problems as it is currently - it needs replacing/upgrading
