Canal Boating

Fancy trying the Leeds Liverpool canal early October. Anyone been any recommendations who to use. Thanks

Think I’m getting transfer window fatigue. I honestly opened this post after thinking ‘that’s one I’ve not heard of. Hope he’s as good as his namesake George’

My brother in law lives in Bath, and whenever I visit him I always fancy buying one of the canal boats and living on it (not sure how practical that is with a 1 year old) or even having it as a sort of mobile holiday home.

I was talking to a guy who has a mobile record shop based on a boat, and sails up and down the canal docking at various places and flogging second hand records - A much more pleasant way to spend life than my corporate job.

I've got one! "Albert" 50 footer
I am not a "live aboarder" too hardcore for me.
I am currently based near Nantwich,in a Marina, semi retired so go for the odd week/weekend and I love it !
Takes a bit of getting the hang of, steering is not very intuitive.and there's quite a lot of shoving and pushing involved, so you need to be fairly fit and agile.
Recommended you go for a long weekend to trial. Two weeks is a long time if your not keen, and it's expensive.
Llangollen canal is one of th most popular but lots of locks....loads of choice though.

Nantwich eh? The model of town that every council should aspire. Plenty of independent shops and cafes and kept spotless. And no doubt a pie and a pint is less than a tenner.
