Liverpool have bought Cavalho from Fulham for a reported £5 million. Was he out of contract or something as that seems really cheap for the 19 year old.
 
Think they agreed a deal in January however the deal wasn't done in time before the deadline, so they agreed for them to buy him from 01 July.

Ironically I think the reported deal in January would've meant him going back to Fulham on loan, so overall it didn't affect either party that the deal didn't officially go through in January.

It does look like a very cheap fee looking at his potential.

Liverpool's transfer business over these last 5 years or so looks amazing. They genuinely get it right most of the time and rarely have to spend extortionate amounts (compared to others)

Have a feeling he will replace Firmino. Very similar player and I think Firmino only has a year left on his deal and I would expect him to run that out.

Yea agree. I think this could well be Firmino's final season at Liverpool. If they win the CL then it would be a very fitting way for him to depart. He's been instrumental in Liverpool's success these last few seasons. He's basically been the glue that's helped Salah/Mane fill their boots with goals/assists.

Yeah if they get a bid for him then they could be tempted to sell with him only having a year left
 
Massive step up for the lad, talented as he is. £5m is outstanding business by Liverpool. Is Neco Williams, either on loan or permanent, part of the deal? Excellent for Fulham last season, and not going to get much of a chance as TAA understudy.
 
It's definitely cheap. I'm not sure if he was entering his final year this summer? Maybe indicated he wouldn't sign a new deal.

Also as mentioned it was meant to happen in Jan. I think it went right to the wire and they couldn't get it done in time.

I'm not sure how much initial game time he will get. I thought they may loan him back to Fulham for a season and rack up 30-40 games. Yet he's apparently been bought for the now and they want him involved.

Big season for Harvey Elliot next season. Either he pushes his way into consistent first team reckoning or he goes out on loan to a premiership club.

Same for Curtis Jones.

Both have been on the fringes for a while now.

I do think Harvey Elliott looks very good whenever I've seen him and he was very unfortunate to suffer that horrible injury otherwise I think he'd have nearly cemented himself in that first 11 alongside Thiago & Fabinho by now.

I think if a bid came in for Jones they would sell. He's had a few seasons there now amongst the first team to push for a starting place and it isn't working out for him is it? Klopp still would rather play Milner and Henderson when Keita, Fabinho or Thiago aren't fit.

Liverpool has spent on average around £32m per year since Klopp arrived, £225m in total, Man city have spent £606m in the same period. Just under £87m per season.

Liverpool's spending is unbelievably low at today's prices.

That's not right. Liverpool have spent £550m since Klopp has arrived. An average of £92m per year. He joined early in the season after they had just spent £130m as well. You must be using net spend. That is giving Klopp the credit for selling another manager's purchases. He hasn't made a huge profit on any player he has brought in and subsequently sold (because they've still got most of them).

I'm not sure why people assume Liverpool haven't spent big. They don't spend as much as City, Utd or Chelsea but they still spend big. £100m every year is hardly nothing. They have had very little that needs changing in recent years so haven't had to spend big. They have been very good in the transfer market because they buy players that fit their squad but they don't buy many that improve them. They have had a very settled side for 3 or 4 years now. Most purchases have reinforced their bench rather than gone straight into the 1st team.

A huge portion of that spend was offset by the Coutinho sale.

They sold him for £143m.
