Championship next Season

This season was an amazing chance to get out of this League....might not come round again for a while 😕
Have to say I agree. How we do next season remains to be seen but this season we had a golden opportunity and blew it. Get past Coventry and Luton and you are in the Premier league. Not saying it was easy as such but It will never get any less difficult than that.

A lot of Yorkshire teams - if we are counted its 6 compared with only 3 from London area and 2 from Lancashire.

Its the biggest attendance wise Championship I can remember - 25k plus crowd clubs are Sunderland. Leeds, Leicester, Soton, Norwich, Ipswich, Sheff Wed, Boro, WBA - with Stoke, Brum, Coventry, Watford - possibles.

Let’s face it, Leicester & Leeds are going to have the pulling power. (I can see Archer & Ramsay ending up at one of those clubs). Southampton have a lot of very good young players so I can see them doing well. We’d do well to make the playoffs again next season.

Have a bit of faith. Seems like you've already wrote us off?

Don’t tell me what I should do.
I would far prefer to watch my club in the PL.
That doesn’t mean I love a league more than my club.
How old are you, 15?
Only 1 acting like a brat mate "don't tell me what to do".....ok kevin:ROFLMAO:

I think Ipswich will be right up there. They got promoted at a canter and were scoring ridiculous amounts of goals

It seems to be a trend that traditional big northern teams have been replaced in the premier league by poxy small southern teams like Bournemouth luton brentford fulham even Brighton were a nothing team 20 years ago. It looks like a great championship with great away days having these big traditional teams.

My personal opinion is that if Archer and / or Ramsey come back down to the Championship on loan this coming season, it would be with no other club other than us.

The same thing said every year, Burnley Watford Norwich coming down all strong favorites to bounce back, only Burnley lived up to expectations, Watford Norwich didn't make the top six.
Leicester Leeds Southampton, who knows how many players will stay and play in the Championship,
Leicester are said to lose, Tielemans, Soyuncu, Mendy, Maddison, Barnes, Castagne and maybe more, so they need a huge revamp.
It won't be an easy ride for any of the relegated teams.

We ran out of form at exactly the wrong time. Two wins in ten games.
I really hope Carrick can learn from that.

I think we pushed so hard for second we left nothing in the tank and succumbed to injuries probably brought on by the chase to catch sheff utd. Hard to be critical on carrick when we were fantastic for months.

I have a feeling Southampton are going to be very strong. Think Smallbone will be a big player for them in midfield and I expect Armstrong to chip in with a lot of goals. Sulemana looked quality against Liverpool and he could be one to one watch next season.

Leicester are in financial trouble and will lose a lot of players, although even at the age he's at now I expect Vardy to score goals at this level. He could be key for them.

Reckon the likes of Sulemana will fancy a season in the Championship? Can see Southampton losing quite a few players too, and although they have a highly regarded academy, they will still be looking at a major rebuild.

Their saving grace is that they potentially have a core of players who have been a success in the Championship - Armstrong, Adams, Smallbone - who they should be able to build a team around.

Leicester lose all their best players, but with parachute payments and a small fortune from player sales if their recruitment is decent they will be up there.

Leeds - train wreck, who knows what will happen

Southampton are the ones to look out for. That front two and a young side that should be able to handle the 46 game season.

But if they defend like they did last year and how Swansea did this year, they'll be in bother.

I think if we have a similar recruitment period as we did over the last year then we go up. I think we will for lots of reasons, but Carrick is up there.

He will be a massive draw to both young, developing players and more established ones. Ramsey did nothing at Norwich and was a revelation. Forss was 'just a finisher' who became a hard working inside forward who still scored. That's before you mention Chuba.

The big task is getting them in early and making sure we're a settled side. I don't want to defend Wilder, but with the world cup he had a shorter pre-season and our recruitment wasn't finished until the end of August and a lot of games in. Carrick managed to rectify that and get us firing - but if he has a pre-season then we won't be playing catch up. Burnley effectively had an entire new starting XI, but Kompany showed that with a good manager that's no bar to success.

It's encouraging that we're already trying to settle a deal with Villa to get Archer back - I'd like to think we're trying to do the same with Ramsey.

I'd love for us to bring Steffen and Giles back for another season as well but the positive thing is we know that the players who have come in since Scott arrived have been suitable for the way Carrick wants us to play, so we'll know to target similar types of players as we move forward.

Aye. Unless it was something like a loan to buy.

If they're coming for their development it doesn't really matter what "pulling power" any other club has. Villa are going to want them to go somewhere they're very likely to play (tick), with a good coach they can learn from (tick) and where they'll know they fit in (tick).

I'm pretty sure Danks will be a big factor too, they know him, he's highly regarded and I suspect they'll trust him to work with their players and improve them.

Would make no sense to send them to someone like Leeds instead just because they're a "bigger" club.

The question mark is whether Villa are willing to release them on loan again.

He's rarely played this season so I can't imagine there will be a lot of interest in him this summer.

It reminds of Emnes in a way. He wasn't good enough for the Premier League but was excellent when he had a full season in the Championship.

Leicester's parachute payments belong to Macquarie, so they won't have the benefit of that income. They'll basically need the money from selling Maddison and Barnes to pay everyone else's wages next season. Then if they manage to sell 4 or 5 others, they'll have to bring in 13-14 players to replace those that have been sold or left on a free. The owners seem not to have the ability and/or the inclination to pump any further funds into the club, so they are really up against it in my opinion.
