Chris Wilder was in a good positive mood going into Friday's press conference. It was all very upbeat ahead of the crunch game at Preston when eyes and ears will also be on other fixtures. But we must be professional and do our job was the message. No easy task at Preston away.
As usual I put the final question to Chris Wilder and the chips were down straight away...
Q: 5000 fans. It could be an absolutely brilliant occasion. Can we make it happen?
Laughs all round
CW: He needs to come on the bus, he needs to come in the changing room and tell tat to the players. I think they recognise it I know that they appreciate it. We all will be doing our best for the supporters and for the players and for myself as well because personally I want to have success here, at this football club, the players do, as much as the supporters do, we want to bring the good times back to the supporters of Middlesbrough. And I know how much they want it as well. So, we all understand. But as I’ve said Rob, it is a difficult afternoon for us. It is not a straight forward one and it never is whatever level of football you play. Going back to my experiences, whatever level I have played at or managed at there is someone in front of you who wants to pss on your fire…if I am allowed to say that. I have just made that up.
Paul Dews: Pss on your chips..
CW: I don’t want anyone pssing on our chips.
