Trying to book tickets to see a film this weekend, likely to the new matrix film but it appears that our two local cinemas are closed for a week. Is this industrial action does anybody know?

Cineworld have Scream listed all next weekend. It could just be that they haven’t updated the schedules for next week yet. Cinemas usually change schedules on a Friday so expect it to be updated soon.

Enjoyed that film. Didn't get good reviews but I thought it was decent.

There is a rumour circulating which I haven't bothered to check that cinemas are not taking bookins for two weeks after the end of this week and that means we will be heading for a two week circuit breaker/lockdown.

Can't be true? A whistleblower would have spoke up by now surely?

Its normal, they work friday to Thursday for screen planning etc, so the tickets or seats for this weekend wont get released until Thursday evening or Friday morning.

While they will know what new releases will be out and which screen they will be assigned to, they likely wont have decided which existing films they will be keeping on yet and whether any will be on multiple screens etc, it will come down to ticket sales last weekend to make the decision. Im assuming theres some new releases on the 14th hence why thats up.

Cheers Priv.

Just thought it very unusual when I checked all the local cinemas like Brian has and found the same situation on all three.

No worries, i used to work at the showcase when i was at uni, it was a fair few years ago but I dont think much has changed in terms of the planning.
