Classic cars-its the thing to invest in!

Going against my better judgment, I've decided to sell my 1960 classic VW Beetle. Its a show winner around the NE and was chosen by Lookers VW to be part of the showroom launch of the new shape Beetle a few years ago.
Always gets loads of attention and really pops in the sunshine.
Theres a really vibrant VW scene in the UK and spares are readily available.
Its a 1200cc, 6 volt, left hand drive Delux model.
Tax free, MOT free, always well maintained and roadworthy, rot free and a stunning example of an appreciating classic.
If you, or someone you know is on the lookout for a classic car, then send them my way please. Looking around £8500

Ah, the VW Beetle, brings back memories. With the engine being air cooled the heating is a bit rudimentary, consisting of some vents under the back seat that get mad hot. A mate had one and one day turned up to go to the pub. En route to my house he had bought a large bag of 'Yorkshire Bounty' fertiliser at the garden centre (this was dried and pelletised sewage sludge, basically human excrement). He'd chucked the bag in the rear footwell where it had melted and the contents had been toasted. He'd not noticed the stink as it had developed slowly but the smell was truly appalling. We journeyed to the pub with our heads out of the windows.:poop::LOL:

I could not believe the prices that Capris are going for - particularly the 2.8i special or Brooklands. A few years ago they were going for next to nothing. Now a tidy one can fetch a fortune.

Is it not due to announcements that petrol cars are going to stop production in a decade or so? So classic cars more likely to be antiques in their own right.

I have some classic motorbikes, nothing flash but reminders of my youth. The prices have increased by about 300% in the last ten years. This cant be sustainable in the long term, particularly if petrol and oil becomes scarce.

Smog, petrol cars, and probably home owned cars will eventually go the way of horses. They will be expensive hobbies for some.

Within the next 10 years, as automated cars become mainstream along with cheap electric powered vehicles, people won't own their own cars, you will book an uber for a couple of quid. Uber won't pay drivers, they won't have any and refilling will be so cost effective cabs will become cheap enough so we won't bother owning them.

Historic Military Vehicles is same. I have not checked prices since lockdown but prices have gone up in the have gone up in the previous six years. 2013 I though about a Dodge Ambulance £8000 but had nowhere to keep it, Last year you were looking at 15000. Decent condition jeeps are upward of £18000 might be more now. The dodge weapons carrier was always the cheaper option. I like them more but they are bigger so again its having somewhere to put it. They were about £7000, but now upwards of £14000.
2009 I paid 4500 for my Landrover it it quite rare. One went on Milweb for £10000 a couple of years ago although it was probably in better condition. But a rebuild is going to be my retirement project

whats going to happen with classic cars when we go all electric and there is no petrol

I recently read an article where a company is putting Tesla engines into classic cars, the conversion was very expensive. Think they were doing VW campervans.

the shape of the old cars have so much more style
