Clubs relegated to League One

All the talk of relegation has got me thinking. There's a few regular top flight / second tier clubs who've been relegated further in recent times:

Leeds United
Nottingham Forest
Sheffield Wednesday
Sheffield United
Norwich City
Southampton
Coventry City
Leicester City
Wolves
Bolton Wanderers
Sunderland
Ipswich Town
Charlton Athletic

In fact. Boro are probably one of a handful who haven't been relegated again after being relegated from the top division.

I realise Boro have been there before, but it does look bleak to be joining that list potentially.

Not forgetting
Man City
Wigan
Derby County
Birmingham City
Fulham
QPR

In fact with few exceptions, all 'top' clubs have spells like this. As Jurgen Klopp said this week' even Man U struggle some years'

If we do go down, and on current form it is looking more likely, then we need to bounce back straight away, or at least have a good season & get into the play off and final.
We don't want to become another Bolton/Portsmouth etc and languish in the lower leagues for a long period of time.
I'm not sure though that the current management team is capable of getting out of the 3rd tier of English football at the first time of asking. Its a completely different ball game (excuse the pun) to the first 2 tiers.

For some reason I've always felt confident we would never drop down to League One with Gibson at the helm.

He's made his mistakes but I'd always felt he was too good of a Chairman to allow us to go down to League One, and that he'd do everything in his power to try and ensure it wouldn't happen.

Think when you look at some of the big clubs who have dropped down to League One, it's fair to say we're not too big to drop down. We're staring down the barrel.

My sight could be failing but has anyone so far mentioned Bradford City?
Played in the Premiership Im sure - now in the old Division 4.

Maybe I'm putting my fingers in my ears and shouting "la la la" but I can't see this happening. Final places as things now stand and we finish 4th bottom on goal difference.
No need to worry. Really.

Oh well, if the worst that can happen is what happened to Coventry, what’s everyone worried about! 😐

Things will really have to change before Boro could top any league to get promotion because just taking one aspect, the people running Middlesbrough FC now could not recognise a decent striker if they fell over one. At present we have the worst bunch of "goalscorers" 😝 In the club's history. A Hickton or O'Rourke they are certainty not.
