Compulsory vaccination for NHS staff members

I agree, should also be compulsory for Care Home staff. These staff members have a responsibility to protect those in their care.
“These staff members have a responsibility to protect those in their care.” - A responsibility to protect those that have already been protected by a vaccine they’ve already had themselves you mean - yes that makes perfect sense 🤪

If NHS staff that deal with the Public do not want to be vaccinated that is OK with me, as long as they take a test every day they are working. Otherwise they stay at home on no pay.

I hope we are getting close the herd immunity (73% vaccinated?), but I gather some vaccinated people have picked up covid, also people have still been bringing it from overseas trips.

Yes the vaccine doesn't necessarily stop you from picking up covid. But it looks like it stops you getting serious symptoms. I think that's the best we can hope for. We can't stop this thing but looks like we have lessoned it's effects. If it stops people dying then that's fine by me

And what about the patients that can't be given the vaccine for medical reasons? Is it OK to put them at risk? Medical professionals should all be vaccinated.

Most of the people in hospital with Covid now have not been vaccinated for whatever reason or have been vaccinated but unfortunately have compromising health conditions.

Those whose job it is to provide care have a duty of care to take their own responsibility in doing so.

Get vaccinated or work elsewhere.

On the other hand NHS is struggling massively to recruit. Meanwhile staff are leaving because of burn out after fighting COVID for 12 months. There are far less opportunities to recruit from Europe now. Far less from anyway overseas as well because of COVID etc. They got a paltry pay offer after saving the nation. Waiting lists are growing and growing. Do you add to the woes by possibly deepening their shortages of personnel?

I had at the back fo my mind that the NHS were struggling to recruit (for many reasons by the way including restricted supply by the professional bodies/associations). If you force people to do something they are frightened of they may just leave and that causes problems for patients too.

I find it interesting that a government who didn't protect the nhs, its staff or its users. Abandoned cars homes now want to mandate that those same staff have to have vaccinations.

Could it be for reasons that have little or nothing to do with protecting patients.

I wonder what percentage have already been vaccinated and whether there is even a need to mandate it.

You might be forgiven for thinking there is another motivation for this.

Another conspiracy theory......

Can’t possibly be about protecting patients and promoting a healthy workforce.
It could be about exactly that. However the government weren't interested in protecting the nhs, its patients or care home residents. Why would you think they care about that now?

So what is the big conspiracy THIS TIME then all this conspiracy stuff lately is getting stupid. No wonder a survey showed that 30% of republicans believe in QANON.

not everything is a conspiracy.

Not sure I said that zorro. I am questioning the reason for this now. Generally 98%of nhs staff have been vaccinated though the number is less in London. Of the 2% who have not been vaccinated how many of those were advised against the vaccination for health reasons. My question would be. Its this even an issue and if not why is it being touted now.

We should not restrict access to health services on any grounds.

What about emergency need for those not vaccinated?
Exactly mate.

But far too many are so narrow minded they don't think of people like that.

I've got some personal news to share next weekend regarding vaccinations and those who can't have them.

They quoted 65% in London on the news yesterday. How many of the 35% were advised not to?
