Coventry are $hit

couldn't have finished 5th if they were. BUT the big thing from today's game for me was that McNair was immense. It got me thinking to all those board expert chicken lickens a few weeks ago saying he was carp, should never play for us again, that he's shot, he's useless etc etc. Haven't seen any of them today for some reason!

They are a well organised side albeit a bit limited upfront.
They looked content to let us have the ball for long periods and we struggled to get in behind them and disrupt their shape.
We need to be much more creative in the second leg and I think we will.

We did a job on their two best players in Hamer and Gyokeres yesterday, so much so that they both were very frustrated and resorted to whinging. Take those two out and they're a very average team.

Same could be said for most teams.

“Take out their best players and they are not as good” is hardly a shock.

I don’t get why we need to try and put them down instead of giving them the respect they are due.

They finished only one place below us and we haven’t managed to beat them in 3 games so far this season. We need to be at our best on Wednesday.

Coventry are definitely not $h1t. They carry some potency up front and are solid at the back and dangerous at set pieces. They have learned to press high and cause a little panic, there will be much more of that on Wednesday. We will need to be as strong as we were today and hope we get one or two breaks. Anyone thinking the tie is as good as ours is much mistaken. Coventry only lost 7 games away from home, we only lost 3 at home, sets it up for a nail biter that hopefully we can overcome.
OP
It’s a stupid comment

They're nowhere near $hit IMHO, a side who finishes 5th rarely are. They have their limitations like most sides and control their best players and they look a lot more average. But again that could be applied to all teams.

Unsurprisingly plenty on the RTG forum are dismissing both us and Cov as $hit after yesterday's cagey encounter, just us slightly less so, stating that they have nothing to worry about from either team. Which of course is complete ballhooks and I'd like to think that we're a more discerning bunch.

In fairness there is one poster (Diego) who had been his biggest critic, but started a thread yesterday calling himself out and admitting he got McNair wrong. I thought fair play, as very few posters are prepared to do that.
The board is here for folk to express opinions and the strong ones make it tasty.
When outspoken folk put their hands up, then good on them.

The thread author's opinion is scarcely reflective of the thoughts of those who've posted in response.

Anyone of a Coventry persuasion who ignores the general consensus for a solitary post which is uncomplimentary is not worth worrying about.

Only a very stubborn individual would not have good words to say about McNair yesterday. He has done well for a little while now but yesterday he really was outstanding and deserves the plaudits. Really has earned to keep his place in the team now. Hopefully another great display on Wednesday.

But yeah, if you get something wrong you have to be man enough to admit that.

Who knows, he might even get himself a new deal.

We finished 5th under Pulis and we were definitely $h!t!

Well I did say "rarely"😁

But even then I wouldn't have described us as "$hit" (though definitely $hit to watch) just boring, tedious, anti-football clods. And a team of clods will have their limitations, which are plain to see! But we were effective at being anti-football clods more often than we weren't.

As Uwefuchs has mentioned this thread has already reached the attention of Coventrys fan forums. This sort of thing can have a nasty habit of biting you on the backside. Lets make sure we do our job and pay the opposition the respect they deserve.
That said, whatever is said on here has absolutely no bearing on Carrick and his team.

We were **** if you could keep Adama quiet....kinda similar to Coventry being pretty unwatchable if Gyokeres isn't having any joy.

But did you get it wrong, Diego?

McNair has stood up to the challenge of going one on one with one of the best attacking players in the championship over two games (or a game and a half) and has done exceptionally well. He's had some good performances of late but that hasn't always been the case and with Dael Fry also being in the squad there were many calling for Dael to start over McNair which was fair enough at that time IMO. It certainly wasn't a ridiculous or over the top opinion to express.

This doesnt particularly relate to McNair but more of a general comment. If a player goes through a bad spell then people can comment on that. A return to form by that player doesn't mean you were wrong.

He did superb yesterday, one of his best games for us to be fair....but it means nothing unless he repeats it on Wednesday, that's the challenge for Paddy, consistency of performance

No wonder I had this whopper on ignore.

Just saw the thread mentioned elsewhere and had to click" Show Ignored content" to find it.

Absolute clown.

They're a good side having a great season.
