Going to Chelsea for £62m (£55m + £7m add ons). Great business for Brighton, but wow, that’s silly money.

Great business for Brighton indeed! Nice profit on rumoured sale at $19.8m from Getafe just a year ago this month.

chelsea are being 'rinsed' on the transfer front - they have got rid of their experienced backroom people and this new owner is busting his balls trying to prove he is in the big time - ha! ha! - the number of players turning them down is pushing up the price of those who are willing to join them - tony bloom the brighton chairman and owner is a very good poker player, no really he is! (google it) - and those skills come to the fore when he does transfer business for his football club. Bloom was in business with the owner of Brentford a few years back, then they split up and went their separate ways - they both still play 'moneyball' - their scouts are not football people like ex players & local PE teachers, they are computer analysts and scientists, at the top end - they monitor every league across the globe collecting data on every player, focussing on 15-22 year olds.

Bloom also owns the Belgium club who beat Rangers in the Champions League qualifier last week Union St Gillioise

He has done well from Poker, but its gambling on football that made him his money. His company Star Lizard is huge, biggest gambling syndicate in the UK I think. I’d imagine they utilise similar methodologies to the ones they use to predict results/find value in betting markets to identify players.
Benham at Brentford is the same, and he also owns FC Midtjylland

This one and Ben White last year, excellent business by Brighton to get top dollar for players who are obviously want to go if offered the chance of challenging for top 4
