Derby County officially enter Administration

Well played, they lived beyond what they were allowed to for a number of years, tried to hide it under dodgy accounting, so they should have had points penalties then and we would have been in the play offs. Absolute minimum we would have got is gates receipts and TV money off that, which for a 30k crowd, must be around 1mill.

So I can see why on principle that would be chased. If it were to happen though, there would be a precedent and this could really open the floodgates to the consequences of this kind of behaviour

Having a read too.... Its hilarious. Fighting the urge to join in the chat 😂😂

I failed. It wasn't pleasant, or that logical. Kept going on about the size of Boro's losses, then wondered why Gibbo was suing them for, err, losses.

Also seems a blindness to the fact that the -12 is for going into administration, not a punishment penalty for cheating. Surely that's on top?

Not good for the fans though, Morris has been appalling.

Any links to their board

I do feel bad for the average fan on there, but there does seem to be a lack of understanding about why fans of other clubs might still be wanting them to get punished.

As said above, administration was self-inflicted, they've still not actually been punished for the cheating that so many are annoyed about.

I have absolutely no desire to see Derby County go out of existence, but I do want to see them sufficiently punished so fewer clubs will try to do what they've done.
Restarting from League One is plenty for me.
I've already forgiven Sheffield Wednesday for their similar antics.

Derby County's administrators say their immediate objectives are to ensure the club completes its fixtures in the Championship this season and finding interested buyers.

The Rams have gone into administration and now face an automatic 12-points deduction.

Andrew Hosking, Carl Jackson and Andrew Andronikou, managing directors at business advisory firm Quantuma, have been appointed joint administrators of The Derby County Football Club Limited (Derby County).

Hosking, Quantuma managing director and joint administrator, said: "I can confirm that Andrew Andronikou, Carl Jackson and I were appointed joint administrators of Derby County Football Club today.

"Covid-19 has had a significant impact on the finances of the club and its long-term ability to continue in its current form.

"We recognise that with the commencement of the 2021/22 season last month, this news will be of concern to stakeholders and fans, in addition to the city of Derby and the wider football community.

"We are in the early stages of assessing the options available to the club and would invite any interested parties to come forward.

"Our immediate objectives are to ensure the club completes all its fixtures in the Championship this season and finding interested parties to safeguard the club and its employees."

EFL STATEMENT

The EFl has confirmed that Derby County have been docked 12 points for going into administration.

Derby 's punishment sees them drop from 12th in the Championship on 10 points to bottom on minus two points.

In a statement the EFL said: "The EFL can today confirm that, in accordance with EFL Regulations, a 12-point deduction has been immediately applied to Derby County Football Club’s 2021/22 season total.

"This follows the lodging of the Notices of Intention to Appoint Administrators on Friday evening, and the subsequent announcement that the process of appointment was completed earlier today.

"The League has already held initial constructive discussions with the Administrators and will remain in regular dialogue with them as they seek to find the appropriate solutions required to assist the Club as it navigates its way out of insolvency."

EVATT'S HOPE

Former Derby County defender Ian Evatt hopes his old club can bounce back from administration.

The Rams are set to enter administration and that will lead to an automatic 12-point deduction.

The docked points will send Wayne Rooney's team to the bottom of the Championship and a further points penalty is hanging over the Rams as a result of their long-running dispute with the EFL, possibly a further nine points.

Evatt came through the youth system at Derby and went on to make 37 appearances for the first team between 2001 and 2003.

He went on to play for Chesterfield, Queens Park Rangers and Blackpool, and is now manager of Bolton Wanderers, who went through administration in 2019.

HISTORY LESSON

Derby County are set to be hit with a 12-point deduction due to going into administration.

The appointment of administrators is expected to be formally announced today and Derby's short-term future is widely reported to be in the hands of Andrew Hosking from business advisory firm Quantuma.

Clubs going into administration are automatically docked 12 points and this will see Derby drop from 12th on 10 points to bottom of the Championship on minus two.

A further nine-point punishment is hanging over the Rams as part of their long-running dispute with the EFL.

Here is a look at a number of other clubs who have been docked points and what happened next to them.

KLOPP'S MESSAGE

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp outlined his happiness that former Derby County man Kaide Gordon is at the club after the youngster made his debut for the Reds.

The 16-year-old played the full 90 minutes of the 3-0 Carabao Cup win over fellow Premier League side Norwich City on Tuesday night, becoming just the third-youngest player to start a competitive game for Liverpool.

Gordon signed for Liverpool from Derby back in January in a deal worth around £1m. It is said that his debut for the Reds has earned the Rams a further £100,000 from the deal.

Following the game, Jurgen Klopp gave his assessment.

I am not sure if I have read this wrong:

Are the administrators asking the EFL not to deduct the 9 points for the accounts debacle?

They are livid with Gibson on their message board, its all his fault.
They are also talking about building a new stadium even though they are in liquidation. 🤡
They've gone so far down the rabbit hole following Mel the pied piper that they've lost all perspective and reason.

Gibson was right, they cheated, and if they'd listened to him, then maybe they wouldn't be in this mess.

Gibson has his faults but he works within the rules. He also lost financially from Morris's cheating, and want's his recompense. Derby fans think Gibson is trying to stick the knife in, I don't think he is, it's about getting compensation but Derby fans have demonised him and it's hard to see him in a different way now.
