Derby County officially enter Administration

I don't have anything against Derby or their fans.

Neither do I think their fans should hold us or SG accountable in any way for what has happened to them: he pointed out that they were sitting on a timebomb, he didn't put it there.

Despite all my expectations, I think WR has actually done a pretty good job as their manager amid the storm of nonsense going on around them. I had expected them to be bottom even without a points deduction pre-season.

He certainly has this season.

But even though he wasn't great last season, I'd actually done him a disservice with my comments on another thread, I'd forgotten that Cocu was in charge for the first 11 games.
Rooney had them in 19th during his time in charge, 1.09 ppg.

Which is poor but still slightly better than what Woodgate managed here.

It might be cruel but I find it impossible not to find this hilarious 🤣
I'm not enjoying it, prob because I know a few fans down here. It's all a bit 1986. Some are lashing out at Gibson etc but most know who the real culprit is and he's just going to walk off after dumping them into administration. After singing "We're Derby County, we do what we want" at us the other week it's all gone a bit quiet over there and they're livid with him.

Their fans mirror Boro's fans. It's like putting the boot into your own when they're down.
I think I agree with the first bit. I may be wrong but I've not seen much from Derby fans protesting about their dodgy owner so in that sense I don't have a great deal of sympathy. Whereas at Oldham and Bury the fans are making their displeasure known. But I fear about how Boro fans might, or might not, react if we were in a similar situation.

The administrator is being interviewed on BBC Radio Derby at 11. Will be having a listen to see what is said although I can't imagine it will be much so soon into the process. They have already reopened the ticket office for Fri and Sat, first time this season it's been open.

Edit... It reopened today

True. Fans are saying it's the first time for ages they've heard anything off the club! Don't even think they've sold season tickets, they're getting refundable vouchers or something. Absolute shambles.

We've been in a worse situation and it took a while to get from our 5,000 core up to filling the ground again

Perhaps you don't hear if criticism from Derby fans because you're a Boro fan, how many fans of other clubs heard criticism of Charlie Amer, how many hear criticism of Steve Gibson?

Living here in Derby, there was very little criticism of MM from the locals. Much more thinking he was clever in finding ways to "outsmart" the EFL. Even against us when they chanted that they do what they want.

They had a deadline last week to renew season tickets to keep your same seat but could only do it online. I had to do it for my father in law and it was a right confusing process and even then he had to have his match ticket sent out. Still no season ticket cards so again he will have to log in for the next home game to request a match day ticket to use whilst waiting for the Card.

I'm not so sure that Gibbo would come in for that much criticism if we ended up in the same situation as he's clearly not a chancer.
For my part, my criticism of him has always been his rather insular approach to appointments and not looking further afield. We've seen with Karanka and countless other foreign managers at other Championship clubs that you can be successful and play decent football.
If financial issues were to put us in a similar position to Derby then you could never honestly level a lack of investment at Gibbo. Wether you think that investment has been wisely spent is another issue that is helped by tremendously by hindsight, but it is nonetheless pretty reasonable to say that we could have chosen better mangers and players than we have done recently.

exactly, the 26mill they owe HMRC is absolutely nothing to do with Gibson, neither is the decision to break accounting standards.

Some points

Lots of people/parties interested, both pre and post administration and that would bring back both the training ground and stadium by in to club control

MM not looking to recoup any of the debt owed to him

Redundancies are likely but not in a position to expand on that

Squad and Management safe for the time being

Should know in 4-5 days the commercial status of the club
