Derby meltdown?

Just need Rooney to walk away to focus on his marriage/amateur photography business now and a couple more injuries and we'll be set for a super season!

They have the three point penalty hanging over them too if they fail to pay their players I believe? So hopefully that'll kick in when they manage to get three points, hopefully not till the end of September.

The Rams are busy preparing for the new Championship season, with Wayne Rooney's men set to face Huddersfield Town at Pride Park on Saturday (3pm).

Will manager Wayne Rooney be able to strengthen the squad ahead of the Huddersfield game?

Derby have nine out-of-contract players training with them in Phil Jagielka, Richard Stearman, Ravel Morrison, Sone Aluko, Sam Baldock, Tom Carroll, Ryan Allsop, Curtis Davies and Andre Wisdom.

Rooney has said he would like to sign them to bolster what is a threadbare squad.

Derby County chase 'eight signings' amid summit claim after Mel Morris remarks emerge

The Derby County headlines from DerbyshireLive on August 6

Derby County owner Mel Morris met with the Supporter Charter Group - representatives of various supporters' groups on Wednesday evening to discuss some key issues ahead of the new season.

Wayne Rooney's side kick-off their Championship campaign at home to Huddersfield Town on Saturday, August 7, but the Rams' preparations have been hampered by a transfer embargo.

Derby supporters group Punjabi Rams have provided a few details about what happened in the behind-closed-doors meeting with Morris.

One update provided to Rams supporters was that various parties are still involved in a potential takeover of the club.

Previous takeover attempts by Sheikh Khaled and Erik Alonso ultimately broke down.

PLAYER SUMMIT CLAIM

Uncertainty remains over whether Derby County will complete any new signings before the start of the new season.

The Rams are due to kick off their 2021-22 Championship campaign against Huddersfield Town at Pride Park Stadium on Saturday (August 7).

Their preparations have been hampered by transfer restrictions, which mean they can only sign free agents on year-long contracts and loan players on six-month deals, and within a wage limit.

Manager Wayne Rooney is yet to make any additions to his squad this summer but has said he is confident of doing so soon.

Nine out-of-contract players have been training with the Rams in pre-season - Phil Jagielka, Richard Stearman, Ravel Morrison, Sone Aluko, Sam Baldock, Tom Carroll, Ryan Allsop, Curtis Davies and Andre Wisdom.

Derby are also keen to bring in Manchester United defender Teden Mengi on a six-month loan.

RAMS 'EYE EIGHT SIGNINGS'

Derby County could sign as many as eight players in time for their season opener this weekend, it is being reported.

The Rams have until midday on Friday to register new signings in order for them to be eligible to face Huddersfield Town at Pride Park Stadium on Saturday.

Derby have been hampered by transfer restrictions this summer as Wayne Rooney looks to add to his squad.

It has previously been reported that they could be limited to a maximum of four signings but now, according to The Sun, they are trying to sign eight players ahead of the Friday deadline as talks with the EFL continue.

Under the current restrictions, the Rams can only sign free agents on 12-month deals or loanees for six months.

Tom Carrol is a good footballer - had a confusing/difficult 18 months, but showed very good promise at Spurs.

Andre Wisdom is competent at this level - decent full back

look to take the pair off em !!

I love the positive spin being put on potential signings above by the Derby press...."impressed in pre-season" etc.

More like they have literally played football at some level and are currently unattached.

Can't imagine Clough would have persisted with the current set up :D
