Djed Spence

What do we do - bring him back or leave him where he is?
Would he walk back into this team or would he be coming on from the bench?

This is going to be an interesting one to watch play out.

Persnally, I think we'll sell him in the window - what do you think?

We can only sell to forest or bring him back, I’d bring him back, they are clearly a much better team with him rather than without him, so why not strengthen us and weaken a rival, I’d also leave it until 10 mins before the window closes if we’re able so they don’t have time to replace him.

I think I would be tempted to sell him and use the funds elsewhere, if they can afford it. I'm not sure that his heart would be in it coming back.

I like DS - and could be a different player under Wilder - who knows

Bring him back even if he wants to stay there and we have no intention of playing him.

There is no benefit to leaving him on loan at Forest when they're a direct rival.

We could do with the strength in depth even if he wasn't a guaranteed starter here.

But if Forest offered good money, I would be tempted to accept as I cannot imagine Spence wanting to come back and it reduces how much they can spend elsewhere without actually changing their team.

Bring him back and let him show he is as good as he a) thinks he is, and b) the forest fans and media think he is. There’s definitely a player in there and Wilder can get the best out of him. Up to him to come back and fight for his place.

Or sell him to PL club who can loan him back to Forest. Can’t see Forest being able to afford him.

His value will have gone up since going to Forest - so if we can sell - sell.

we have to bring him back to force their hand really. Personally I can’t see forest giving us the sort of money he is worth really and he is their best player along with Johnson according to their fans, his replacement was **** yesterday.

Would he really get in the team in front of Jones who I think is much better than him given what spence has delivered in a boro shirt. Could either play on the left, Jones was playing on that side at the start of the season?

He will have watched that game yesterday and fancy playing in that team. It gives him the best chance of promotion. Bring him back and let him fight for his place like a professional footballer.

Got to bring him back. Whether he plays for us or not, there is absolutely nothing to be gained by leaving him there.
I’d rather see Jones developed than Spence but I trust Wilders judgment to play the best one.

I'm sure it wasn't all down to Spence not playing, but how much did they miss him yesterday? I'd say it was a big factor, as we see with Jones, the wing backs are essential to making 352 work.

Seems crazy we wouldn't deprive a rival of a key player if we can. Never mind one perfectly suited to our own style of play. It could cause them quite a big problem if he's been as good as they think he is.

Sounds like there might be an issue as to whether he'd be happy to come back, so that's a factor in terms of whether we can utilise him ourselves or not. But Forest aren't the only club out there, so in that case you try and sell (be amazed if another club aren't interested) or loan him elsewhere, preferably not to a rival.

I'd far rather keep and have him competing with Jones though. It's a long season.

He will be playing against our other rival teams though. If he stays put and continues to impress he will be worth more in the summer. It is supposition that he will be more effective than what we have now
That said, loans between clubs in the same tier should never be allowed in the first place.

I’d agree with this to a point. If the intention is to sell in summer then his value will continue to rise at Forest, so we could have a bidding war in the summer.
If the intention is to keep him then agree, nothing to gain leaving him there.

sell him unless he wants to be at the boro, which i doubt,id sell him or bring him back to sit on our bench,as he certainly wouldnt be replacing jones

Apparently Brentford are readying a £14m bid for Forest's Brennan Johnson (although given his performance yesterday I can't think why).

They may think £6m would be enough to prise him away from Boro who knows?

Suppose it depends how much we worry about Forest. Taking points off rivals is no good if they end up pipping us to top 2 or a play-off place.

Then again if we both finish in the play-offs assume Spence wouldn't be able to play against us so that might actually work in our favour (they become reliant on him then have to do without if they come up against us).

It's possible I'm over thinking this 😁

Swap for Brennan Johnson , or
Swap for Joe Lolley , which would give us the experienced playmaker, and ideal alternative to Tav, who may be a target for Leeds if you believe the papers.

I watched a full forest game last week to see how Djed was performing for them, but it was Johnson who stole the show, swapping the overlapping with Djed but doing the right-winger bit to compliment Spence's RWB role.
