Djksteele

Agree that he suits the role better than McNair who looks a bit laboured sometimes when tracking back after a forward run. Dijksteels pace is invaluable for us when defending the counter too. He deserved to be dropped recently after a couple of really poor showings, but seemed back on form tonight

Funny, I thought Paddy was outstanding before he went off.

But in this position and the central CB we have got proper strength in depth now.

He’s good bringing the ball forward - always seems to switch off at least once during a game though, which often leads to a chance or goal. Still think Clarke Fry McNair should be the three centre backs

Those three also switch off, as we saw at times last night and which fortunately only lead to the one chance on goal.

He did alright, not class, he lost the ball and they nearly scored. Needs to work on ball control and game/time management trying to go through 3 men in latter stages of the game in the middle of the park isn't ideal.

funny I thought McNair was awful before he got "injured" before he went off.
We are a far better team with Dijksteel as RCB
Why "injured"?

It happened right in front of me and he looked fuming, and was talking to the medical staff after coming back on and was obviously not right

I think Dijksteel usually plays well for us, but he's got the odd mistake/lapse in concentration in him that has led to us conceding goals this season.

He nearly set them up when he lost the ball and tried to recover at one point.

But, you could say the exact same thing for McNair, he's been partly at fault for a few recent goals too.

I prefer Dijksteel. His pace especially is something the others don't have. I presume it was McNair that left the massive gap for Pritchard's chance in the 1st half. He was out of position and missed challenges for Watford's goals as well.

Watching on TV, no roll of the ankle so guess maybe the fabled metatarsal knack.. they will play in slippers..

Just posted about him in the Leinhan thread.

I hate seeing him on the bench, he's too good for that in my opinion.

That run through the middle where he nearly beat them all but lost it summed him up for me. Much better going forward than McNair but more of a liability defensively. He's probably someone you want playing in the middle of a good run rather than a dodgy one.

He links up well going forward - I do wonder whether he could be used as a right back if Jones is not available. I think we signed him as a right back, didn't we?
