Do many other posters ‘ignore’ people on here?

As long as people are polite and debate with a bit of honesty then I won't ignore them, it's not about if I agree or disagree as I've blocked people that I found I agreed with but thought their attitude stunk and you don't need that negativity in life.
We have had a few arguments but I wouldn't dream of ignoring you because we disagree politely. I have 2 on ignore because they made unacceptable comments that I don't need in my life and it wouldn't matter a jot if I agreed with them or not.

I think we have to remember we have come through a really difficult period and tempers were often high. However, that doesn't excuse some of the comments.

The last bit of that post was generic mart and nothing to do with you, more a comment on the thread.

I would like to see who is ignoring you as I think it would show that there is an issue and hopefully you can resolve it.

Like a tab when you click on profile page that they are ignoring you etc it would stop you replying as well when they won’t respond.

Or a number on your own profile of how many people are ignoring you so it would say 31 people are ignoring you etc.
That's a good idea as it would let you know that there was an issue a bit beyond a personality clash

I've got the aliases of several trolls who no longer post on my ignore list and one very well known poster who I personally think brings nothing to any conversation.
I've no issue with opposite views, but some take things way too far and resort to trolling and spoil the board for lots of people.
Oh Dood take me off ignore, I'll be better.

But how will he see your message unless someone replies?
Oh, hang on...

Let us all be pleasant to others (me included!). It wasn’t that long ago that we were all preaching the Be Kind thing. We don't know what others are going through.

Life is too short to get radge at some random on an Internet message board.
Oh Dood take me off ignore, I'll be better.

I ignore only one person because in my opinion they are rude and bullying if you challenge their deep rooted and unquestionable views. I don’t miss them

There’s one fella whose posts I ignore now after he attacked me for posted something that ‘annoyed’ him, but other than that not really. It’s a forum innit. Don’t take it too seriously.

I've just checked and it seems there are about 8 on my ignore list. Most must've been sometime ago, as I don't recognise their profiles, probably trolls who quickly got themselves banned.

Do people not have the willpower just to ignore posts rather than needing technology to do it for you?

Probably have all the porn sites blocked on your laptop too ☹️

I've nobody on my ignore list and as has been said earlier, its easy enough to try and ignore posters comments and skip to the next post.

Another point already made has been that it's been a very difficult couple of years and you never really know what someone else is going through; if someone is being rude or generally argumentative it might well be there are other things happening in their lives.

I know for a fact that in the past I've reacted to comments and hurriedly responded in kind and afterwards thought it probably wasn't the best thing to do. I don't think any of us are perfect and sometimes we react and keep something going rather than drawing the line under it and moving on. I've been guilty of that on occassion.

The reality is that I would think that despite the differences between us that we have a lot more in common with each other than we sometimes think. We're all Boro supporters, have mostly all grown up in and around the area and we've all had the rough bumps in the road in our personal and working lives that sometimes make us a little more arguementative and b!tchy at times, or perhaps impatient at others.

I've said it before and I'm happy to say it again that the value of this board and all of its members aren't when we're arguing over the biggest dud we've ever signed, which chippy is the best or even different political views, it's when others are struggling and reach out for help; on that topic I have never seen anything but support for others from people of all footballing and political persuasion.

This board is truly a great place to come to, despite any disagreements.

I don't block anyone it feels a bit undemocratic and discrimitary but would not completely rule it out. However some of the non football stuff can get a bit fraught. The question of membership of the EU is extremely divisive in the UK and this board can feel like the frontline of the Somme at times with most posters becoming pretty tribal. But some other non football topics have become heated too on such quite mundane topics such as electric vehicles.

I have made posts where I think posters have crossed over into more personal criticism insults opposed to criticism of an argument(s). In some way the board is reflecting what is going on in wider society.

Possibly we should have just a football board and a non football board. Some posters have possibly wisely avoided threads that are likely to become a bit toxic. It can become a bit draining and psychogically straining to deal with a poster(s) that seems determined to have a heated verbal battle over every little detail.

Like a lot of electronic written communication there can be genuine misunderstandings which can quickly flair up if tolerance of others is low. There is no non verbal cue and clues on FMTTM.

On the positive there are a lot of intelligent people on this board and many of us have shared experiences and interests. I find there are more good experiences than bad. I have laughed out loud a number of times and there are people who know plenty that I don't.

I haven't blocked or ignored anyone, if I disagree with what somebody is saying then I can quite easily scroll past. And if somebody says anything to me directly I don't agree with or I feel is being rude to me I will rather respond in a polite manner and sort it out that way or ignore completely. At the end of the day I am on here as I enjoy it and like to read other opinions on things and try to give my own thoughts on things that I have an opinion or experience on. I have come too far in my battle with mental health and I am finally in a good place and have a positive outlook and just can't be done with petty squabbles over things that really ain't that important to me in the grand scheme of things. I am curious if any has got me on the ignore list though 🤔
