Do we have to keep warnock next year?

Hall was Warnock’s first signing on a free. And if the poster above thinks that’s bad business we have Geordie levels of delusion amongst us.
The fact he was a free transfer says all that needs to be said. Clubs weren't exactly climbing over each other to secure his services. Not delusional to expect to sign decent players rather than rejects.

Anyone who thinks Hall hasn't been our best and most consistent performer in recent weeks must be watching different games to me. He's a good solid centre half at this level. We signed Mendieta on a free. It doesn't mean someone is a reject or not decent just because they are available on a free transfer?

If Hall & Fry played 40+ games together next season we wouldn't lose many of them.

Boro 'fans' trying to force yet another manager out?
We should bring in a young manager.. not like Woodgate tho. and then force him to play all the academy players (because they must all be better than the tripe we currently have) Gibson should put ALL of his money into the team break FFP (because that's what it takes right)

Then when we're bottom three by xmas we can blame, the young manager, the young players and that IDIOT Gibson for wasting his money on a bunch of posers and bringing in a manager who doesn't know his **** from his elbow. A season in league one will do us good right (I've heard this one before) a season in league one.. get rid of Gibson and bring in a billionaire who can change us into a force to be reckoned with just like MAN CITY that'll show them up the road. Smash up league one, in our new blue kits as 'The Middlesbrough Schezwan Sauce Emporium Tigers' then as we go bust just as the owners (a front for a far east gambling syndicate) had bet on us going bust and relegated.. we can start to rebuild from the bottom, start playing our games in Albert Park like the good old days. We can start again as Middlesbrough 1986 Phoenix A PROPER CLUB ran by the fans. If only we could find some local businessman with a passing interest in football to buy the kits for us?

Hi Steve! Yeah, it's the bunch of absolute whoppers that couldn't stand having a competitive team in the championship aiming for promotion..
Steve?
Steve?

Must admit this has been running through my head for a while now.

I think the biggest question at the moment is "what next"?

Warnock is unlikely to be here for the next five or so years to build something which means the next manager will inherit a well drilled squad but a very one dimensional one. I could be wrong but there's probably not too many managers succeeding with a "Warnock style of football" these days so we're potentially setting up for another Monk-Pulis turnover of players.

It's not too long ago that he got Cardiff into the Premier League. I wouldn't say too much has changed since then.

I agree and definitely feel we're in with a chance as long as he stays but it's also telling that the most successful teams this season are the more technical ones, decent footballing sides.

For what it's worth, I still think our best chance is as a predominantly defensive side. Keeping it tight and nicking a goal. The majority of our success over the last few years has come playing this way.

I think warnock took a couple of punts in january that haven't paid off - I ain't really going to judge him on that.

Our squad is paper thin and when we lose a couple of players we suffer - fry and tav are prime examples.

Assuming Warnock wants to play 4-3-3 I still don't think we are too far away. The back 4 speaks for itself. A midfield of Mcnair, Howsen and Tav is good for me, as always its that front 3 that needs some work.

Howsen is getting some pelters at the minute, I've heard he's playing through injury and has been since january. I think this is why two young midfielders have been brought into the squad - I reckon we'll see him getting some rests now - you couldn't drop those lads in against 3 of the form teams in the league.

As always if we get some decent signings in we've got a chance of play offs next season, the football at times this season has been really good equally in recent weeks its been dog. Just been one of those transition seasons for me.

I'm happy for Warnock to be in charge next season, he's still preferable to any of our last 4 managers.

Interesting point and you look at Norwich, they haven’t battered teams 4 nil but they just seem to win comfortably getting 2. Id go they other way. You need to score youre way out of this league. Keeping it tight, battling has its merits but as weve seen this year, its draining and can fall apart if you dont have the depth or in our case the quality in the first team.

100%, it's not how I would choose to do it either, but I think that's where our strengths lie. The last time we played good attacking football was arguably under Robbo.

Depth is the biggest issue for me - doesn't matter how we play unless we expand the size of the squad by around 6-7 players next season. Criminal really that one player being injured can throw the entire team (as it has a couple of times for us this season).

Interesting. Karanka had some great attacking players and enough depth to leave Vossen as a squad player. I think if we’d hone at teams more we’d be in a better position. Blackburn home and away a good example. Youre totally right. We wont have the depth we need next year. We need 6 to 8 first teamers in the summer just to maintain

But he’s been decent. I think that’s the point.
