Dog Walkers v Cyclist

I know I’m going to upset a lot of dog walkers on here but if your walking your dog and you clearly see me, I’ve clearly seen you, I’ve slowed right down, please control your dog.

2 examples today. I’m one side of a trail & you and your dog are on other side of the trail, we are facing each other, I’ve slowed right down, then your dog suddenly runs right in front of me. I stop & I nearly fell off my bike. The 2 dog walkers didn’t even say sorry haha.

As a dog walker I absolutely agree. I don't want my dog hit by a bike. And conversely if you as a cyclist are approaching me from behind, kindly make me aware of your presence (if you are too cool for a bell, a polite "excuse me" or "behind you" will suffice), thanks.

I should add I am assuming you're on a permissive cycleway and not a footpath?

Were the dogs on leashes? You know the 30 meter long ones that get tangled up in your legs as you pass.

How many cyclists actually have a bell on their bike and use it or call out when they are manoeuvring past pedestrians.

I’m in both camps… I walk my do and use the foot/cycle paths round Ingleby. I have an extending lead. I try to keep aware of cyclists and pull dig in if ones approaching. I may miss the odd approach but do hope the cyclist tries their best to make me aware.
As a cyclist I’d ring my bell or cough if the walker has not seen me..
often I get comments or sighs or even over the top surprise. I also get this from walkers without dogs.
I’m not perfect but I do know it’s best to be considerate whichever means of getting about I’m using…
To many people live in their own bubble…
