Drink Driving

It’s mad how some people think it’s ok to drive the morning after a night on the beer, imagine stopping drinking at 11am then jumping in your car at 7pm.

I don't even take the car Ingleby. When drunk is too easy to make the wrong decision.
I’m in the canaries at the mo and in that mindset, when mrs F is all dressed up she doesn’t want to turn up a windswept sweat box, so I take the car and dump it, then taxi back. Good excuse for a walk in the morning. Never tempted to drive it back, I know a few that do though because there’s zero chance of getting caught and the punishments are ‘light’

That's exactly my thoughts on taking the car. If I go into London for work and there is any chance of a few beers after work I leave the car at home. You are not tempted to drive it back from the station then.

To be fair the majority of drink drivers are stung the next day. It not like they smash in 10 pints and drive home.

You'll find they had 10 pints and in bed by 2300. Then drive to work and get caught. I think almost anyone could fall foul of this at some point in the past. It's amazing how long you can still fail for. I once tested myself with an amazon special and still over the limit at 1400 on a Sunday aft after a decent sat night out.

So clearly the answer is don't drink after a night out. Just be mindful as to how long you will still test positive for despite a good night's sleep.

The norm for a lot of us oldies, as was going out for a couple and driving home. Different era, different boundaries.

Assuming your AM and PMs are mixed up. They’re not the ones Id worry about (unless they’ve been in it all day) it’s the ones that stop at 1am / 2am / 3am and drive in the morning. They are are really dangerous ones.

At the end of the day, regardless of era, drink driving has always been a dangerous and selfish act. Everyone knows the score, no excuses and there never were any.

People saying they don’t do it now because they are more likely to get caught these days evidences that selfishness. They are worried they might be charged rather than worried about hurting or killing someone.

Some bizarre rationale out there.

Does depend how much you’ve had of course. 4 pints you’d be ok surely? (2 hours per pint)

Whilst drink driving is and has always been an issue, apparently it’s “drug driving” that is rapidly on the rise.
Possibly not that surprising considering the relatively new roadside tests for cannabis and cocaine. I think I read somewhere that you can test positive at the roadside if you've used any in the last 4 days.

That’s only an indicative test. If that returns positive you are “asked” to go to the station and provide a urine, or in some cases a blood, sample.

You will be asked for blood, as that analysis will give an actual reading, testing urine can only show presence and not at any level.

Testing of urine generally provides evidence of impairment for drug driving but it does give an actual reading for possible drunk driving prosecutions.
