During the cricket the other night

A graphic came up with a few 'records' which looked like they could be broken with an England victory.

One of which, I'm almost absolutely certain, was "first time England had whitewashed an away test series" since South Africa 2-0 in 1899.

However, we beat Pakistan 3-0 in a 3 test series this winter, and Sri Lanka 2-0 in a 2 test series in recent years too.

I've checked and we also won in Bangladesh 2-0 in a 2 test whitewash in 2010 and earlier in 2003.

Anyone else see this, or have I got it wrong? I must surely have got it wrong, but what was the stat then?

Think it was a white wash winter wasn’t it rather than series. Ie we won every test from Oct to Mar

Ah so going a whole winter winning every match. Makes sense. Well spotted and thanks.

Mind you, comparing a 2-0 win in South Africa 124 years ago to the 5-7 test matches they play every winter now seems absolutely pointless.

Anyway, wasn't to be in the end. Barest of margins.

Did you notice the over graphic which indicated how many balls a bowler had bowled in an over? It was constantly showing the wrong number or missed a ball etc….bizarre.

No didn't notice that. Half the term I do think some of these stats are completely pointless tbh. Its like they just have to stick something up there regardless of what it is.

One of the NZ bowlers, Henry went, off injured for a while after bowling 5 balls in an over. Southee bowled the final ball, so they would always show as having bowled .5 or .1 respectively after a completed over
