The conspiracy theorist in me thinks that because Ipswich relented and lent us George Edmundson, that we may have given them an indication of first dibs on ELL either in January or next Summer.

If he, and we, are flying as January approaches, I'd be thinking of offering a new contract.
If he wanted it to include a minimum fee release clause that kicked in at the end of the season if we weren't promoted, I'd have no problem with that. Obviously he'd want the clause to be as low as possible, we'd want it as high as possible.
That way he'd know there was nothing the club could do to stand in his way at the end of the season. No need for "gentlemen's agreements". Those never seem to end well.

Some people thinking that we hold all the 'Ace' cards here are not fully correct in my opinion.
Yes, he has years left on his contract and we maybe dont NEED the money, but you can't stand in a players way if they want to move up into the premiership.
You don't want an unhappy asset on your hands - that's no good for anyone. Especially when you consider we can now market our club to promising young players that if they do well with us, we won't stand in their way if you get offers of premiership football etc.
It's probably how we have persuaded a number of players to come here in the summer.
They look at Morgan Rogers being here for only 6 months and think - "yea, they are true to their word". That's worth a lot in transfer negotiations I reckon.

ELL isn't a young player with huge potential for a higher ceiling though like Rogers or VDB, he's pretty much everything he's ever going to be at this stage of his career. I doubt he will been given the same kind of assurances that the super talented young players we try to sign are.

What I was referring to really was the optics of blocking any player leaving a club isn't a good look.

Why are you worried about his attitude? Your post illustrates perfectly that he has a great attitude. Drove himself down and got there very late as he wanted to play. Can't see how you could question that attitude or be worried about it. I think LL wanted to stay with the club and he was ***ed off that the club held him back from the team bus.
Furthermore there is no proof that he or his agent was involved in promoting any of the so-called stories and noise.

If he bags a few goals we’d likely be in a auto or playoff position, so maybe he’d stick it out for the rest of the season as he could be a prem player within a few months with a fat new contract. Saying that, if a big club comes in for him then could be a different case.

Do those two things not imply that you are worried about his attitude. otherwise why title it ELL's attitude, then ask that question?
Your title and subsequent question say you are worried by his attitude so I don't see how you can deny that that is the intent of your post GS. If it is not then you need to re-title it as it's clear that the post is about his attitude and you then wondering if people are worried if he will give his all.
If you did not share that concern then why the heck did you start a post questioning his attitude?

Go back and read it again please. It wasn't a question (hence the lack of a question mark), I don't actually ask anything. It was a statement to provide evidence he WAS bothered and aimed at those who were questioning him.

Is the difference between worth and value. Akpom only had 12 months on his contract his worth decays along with his contract. Same with any player.
