Energy price cap raising to £2800

I hate the way they talk about the price cap. It is meaningless unless you are bang average. It's a 42% increase on what has already been increased astronomically since last year. A 42% increase will push me to between £350 and £400 per month.

Apologies aren't good enough Mr or Mrs Ofgem.

I do hope that energy companies have contingency plans in place for when people stop paying their gas and electric bills. They can't cut everyone off and even then I believe it takes three years of non payment before you are cut off anyways.
if every household in the country refused to pay on time and cancel their direct debits they would be screwed
Exactly this.

If you do go down that road, make sure you save enough each month to cover what you think would be reasonable.

If they are asking for £200 p.m. and you can afford (or are willing to pay) just £80, then save that £80.

Whatever happens down the line, even if they agree to retrospectively cut costs, you will need to pay them something.

None of this train crash is caused by immigrants, militant unions or migrants crossing the channel.........so who is responsible may I ask?
And who is left to fight for the many not the few?

I reckon that would mean that from January 2022, just over 15% of my monthly take home pay has been claimed by bill increases, on top of what I was already paying.

I managed to bring nearly £20 off some bills by combing through direct debits and deals during my lunch break, but it's a drop in the large financial puddle. My energy bill increases alone could provide two families with a full Sky package, which is why I find the lazy 'how to save money' articles in the paper so annoying. Netflix and takeaway cups of coffee... Mere pennies by comparison.

It's getting like something out of a Dickens novel. Unless things change I can see a LOT of businesses going bust or laying off staff, crime increasing to record levels, hospitals full with people malnourished or freezing in the winter, food banks literally running out of food. Unless things change and help is given and systems are changed then this winter could see a financial and social disaster not witnessed in generations. What I have written are all linked, and it might be worst case scenario but it is still a very real and scary possibility.

All part of agenda 21 folks - give it a read, and check out humans 2.0 while you’re at it. The destruction of the middle classes continues apace. Once real Ai arrives we’ll all be surplus to requirements, and it ain’t that far away now …..

Did a similar thing, cancelled my sky and just stream everything. That saved over £60 a month. Nearly offset the £50 odd extra I pay in NI every month. Haven't found a way of offsetting the wife's NI increase.
An extra £50? That's a pretty big monthly NI.

4 years ago we paid £96/month currently it is ~£280/month. Same time it was £40 to fill my car, now it is £80+. We can afford it (only because my wife has started working) but I don't know how some people do. Don't worry BP/Shell/Centrica etc are struggling like we all right.. tossers
