šŸ™Cut your energy bills nearly in half with Octopus Tracker

The other thing to consider is that tracker is being revised constantly so I think will progressively become less attractive, as octo probably underpriced it before as it was cheaper than agile a lot of the time.

The new April 2024 tracker is 5% more expensive than the December 2023 one, so by the time you renew there is probably another formula or two's worth of variants that you would go onto, while agile may adjust also, I'd say better to get ahead of that curve. The sheer size of ev batteries means when you can charge on the cheap it rockets the savings. Loads of days lately where we've been paid to top it up by the 30-50% it needed but under normal circumstances it would just be much cheaper than tracker - like Andy says you just avoid 5-7 if you can help it, but can still plug it in, as long as charger has those features

If not you could maybe automate something with home assistant or a similar if your car has an api that it can link in with

Iā€™ve just got. Smart meter with octopus. Is the tracker/agile product cheaper than just being on thr variable with thr new price cap? Read somewhere it wasnā€™t really any different

Yes almost certainly.

If you could share the exact name of the tariff you're on I can do a specific check to give you a rough idea.

Here's a comparison of my own usage on Tracker versus the Flexible Octopus tarrif for the calendar year so far.

Saving of Ā£246 in 2024. The comparison is done in the Octopus Compare app. Well worth paying for

Are we getting automatically switched to the April 2024 tariff, or is that just for new customers. I recently got switched to the December 2023 tariff and thought it was fixed for a year.

New customers only, they'll probably revise it fairly regularly. When your 12 months expires you'll go on whatever version is current if you wish to renew it

There's a new April agile tariff which isn't as good as the agile Dec '23 tariff. For me there's hardly any difference now between being on the Dec tracker and April agile.

im on the octopus tracker for gas and elec and don't have an elec vehicle is this the best deal for me and wife ,im happy overall with it to be honest, thanx

I'm paying less than half, for the month on agile electric, but I have an EV.

Variable rate on price cap is 25p for electric and 6p gas, I've paid 9.3p electric (agile) and ~4.5p gas (tracker).

More solar output each month now too, so tracker and agile electric will both probably come down further. Price cap might come down a few pence, from July, but don't count on it.

Electric tracker has averaged about 16p, so still a good 40% cheaper than the variable/ price cap.
