England last night.

I'd still be interested to see how we would perform if we dropped one of the 3 midfielders and went to a 4231.

Bellingham and Rice as the 2 in midfield, and then pick between Saka, Foden, Maddison, Grealish and Rashford for the 3 forward positions behind Kane.

He did play 4231 with Bellingham behind Kane,
Rice and Henderson as the 2 holding midfielders.

Had a double england weekend this weekend. Saturday at the u21s and sunday at wembley. Thought Maddison was excellent yesterday. Overall though they didn't really need to bust a gut. They had Ukraine pocketted all game.

Yes won at a canter, if qualification needed a 5-0 win we could have gone for it and scored a lot more. Second half we just breezed through. Not a great spectacle but effective at getting 3 points with minimum fuss and drama. That’s a string to Boros arrow that we have missed under Carrick, cleansheets and blunting the opposition to nothing

Much preferred Maddison to Grealish - I am a fan of both but one thing i notice about Grealish is he can be lazy off the ball if he isnt expecting to get it. Maddison is much more lively and comfortable on the ball in all areas of the pitch.

The one area they both have to improve is in the box.

Absolutely. Madfdison off the ball was superb. His feints to beat a man were excellent. But he snatched at his chances in the box then seemed to lose confidence.

Already has been suggested by writers, from after the Euros of course...😯
From an England perspective, Carrick seems to be a perfect continuity choice for England. Let's hope Carrick isn't planning on being England manager any time soon, at least until he's got us stabilised in the prem.

Being Boro gaffer is a requirement before the national job now isn't it?
If Carrick has us playing the same way in the PL as we are now then he'll be on the FA's shortlist for certain.
I am excited to see how he does with players who are a step up on who we have, PL funds permitting of course.
