English and Welsh morons fighting in Tenerife.

So it looks like this world cup was probably the best tournament to attend with a family. No drinking, no gangs of lads being racist / sexist / homophobic etc. no fighting / bad behavior. Who would have thought.

Just watched the 'fighting' absolutely embarrassing. Put any of them in a boxing ring and they wouldn't last 30 seconds.

It did make me chuckle when one Welsh fan helps his mate up after he'd been floored, then he precedes to hit him 30 seconds later after forgetting he's on his side 😂

I'm a bit torn on the issue of segregation. I have no problem sitting with other fans and it should really make no difference but I also think the segregation is what creates the atmosphere and makes football unique. For most people, be despite it being tribal, it is good natured. It's just a shame the minority have to ruin it for everyone as usual.

I saw earlier in the week that the Euro's are in Germany 2024 and thought it would be a great place to go and watch football. Unfortunately, to enjoy it, you would avoid any games involving England or areas that a large number of England fans are staying.

28 degrees today in beautiful Fuerteventura - no idiot football fans in El Cotillo just lovely fish restaurants, friendly people and gorgeous wine - you can watch football in one or two places in a very civilised environment but hey - why would you!

On segregation, Twickenham is an interesting place. Loads of integration of fans , and beers at seats but still large swathes of fans singing Swing Low. We had about 40 Italians behind us in good voice and great form but all friendly and good humoured. The fan parks outside are also superb. I suppose they do the thuggery on the pitch!

I have only ever seen one idiot (Scotsman) step out of line at Murrayfield and the people around him gave him short shrift.

Another time whilst watching England up there with my son (aged 26 at the time), I told him how the hairs on the back of your neck stand up when Flower of Scotland is sung and when they started singing it, the guy behind in full voice had hold of his shoulders and gave him a little shake at the start of each line. I turned around and got a wink from him but the boy didn't dare turn and look at him. We shared hip flasks throughout the game. ;)

When it comes to watching live, snooker is vastly superior in my experience based purely on the cringeworthy behaviour (or lack of) of fellow attendees.
What I don't understand about all these quiet sports is that I've never heard anyone drop a fart. Do snooker, golf and tennis fans not fart? I can't imagine anything less pleasant than sitting there for however long a snooker match goes on trying to suppress a fart. What do people do in these situations, leave the arena? Thinking about it I suppose people just let rip when there's applause after they've potted a tricky shot. That can't be pleasant in and of itself. Ronnie O'Sullivan sinks a tricky brown and all of a sudden you've got three or four hundred people dropping a big one.

Cocaine is the thing. Was a very rare thing when I started boozing in the 90s and bother was very easy to avoid.
More coke; more chew.
The only coke you could get when I first started going to games was either Coca-Cola or Pepsi and fighting was rife on the terraces 🤣 🤣 🤣

Being serious, cocaine is blighting the whole of society but there's plenty on here that will defend its use.

I think this is exactly what happens! It’s the only explanation.

And this is exactly what I'm planning to do. Will book various hotels in different parts of the country and cancel when the draw is made.

Managed it at Euro 2018 too - arrived in Marseilles just after the English had left.

Was in Germany for a couple of Bundesliga games last month.

Fans mixing in the ground and travelling to and from the games. Beer everywhere - on the buses and trains, in the ground, in the stands. Big crowds and an atmosphere that absolutely pïsses on what we have here.

And zero bother. It's pathetic and embarrassing how we carry on. We're treat like children because we don't deserve any better.

Fully agree with this, the experience in Germany is absolutely brilliant and centred around the supporter (might not be a coincidence that clubs are at least partially fan owned though?)

Disagree with your last point - it's a source of endless frustration how we deal with anti-social behaviour and (the minority) idiots in this country, and not just relating to football.

Our governments have traditionally been much more likely to punish everyone over the actions of a few (see Beer in grounds for example) rather than other more modern, progressive states where you actually deal with the minority but not at the expense of the majority. It's part of the divide and rule strategy in my opinion and is perfectly illustrated by the recent ch4 documentary on Italia 90, where the British media handily painted ALL England fans in Italy as intent on causing hell etc, thus by associated painting all football fans with the same brush.

There's plenty of fan violence in Germany and from German fans.

Nice played Köln in the Conference League two months ago and had to be postponed because of fan violence, West Ham fans were attacked by Frankfurt fans earlier in the year, Frankfurt fans then attacked Rangers and Marseille fans in later matches.

Likewise German fans attacked England fans when we last played them in September.

Most matches in England go ahead with zero bother at all too, it's the ones that don't which get the headlines.

It's a problem throughout the sport, not just in the UK.
