Europe holiday this spring/summer?

Not so much that. Paid for holiday last year, couldn’t go then so pushed it to this year. Wouldn’t mind putting it off until later in the year but the holiday company has hiked prices by £1000 already. So, truth be told, if the government deem it safe to travel, I’m not really sure where I stand with regards to money paid if I elect not to go.
I’m in the same boat here, we had our first big Disney world holiday planned for last summer with a big deposit paid for it to be rescheduled for this August, I am soon required to pay the balance and this dithering isn’t helpful, I cant reschedule for next summer as I have other commitments with a big family wedding abroad but I’m not willing to write off over £2k in deposit. I may have to pay the thousands of pounds balance and hope it all goes ahead or gets cancelled and I can get all of my money back. A decision one way or the other would help but can’t see it happening until July time with the threat that the corridor closes while we’re there and we’re stuck in the states or with a £4K bill for 2 weeks for 4 of us in a hotel Room overlooking Gatwick when we get back

Cheers Malagueña I'm in Mijas Costa 84.3.Yes heard that bars can now open till 10.30 instead of 6 so hopeful for June.
I'm in Malaga City itself - well, one of the urbanisations in the hills to the East, just above Limonar / Pedragalejo / El Palo

It's a good website to keep an eye on - they update the figures for each Town, Area and Province in Andalucia every day

I have no choice We usually go away 3 times a year. The Mrs has made it clear she is going nowhere this year and doesn't seem keen on next year either.

I'm not sure its accurate to say the authorities have nailed the variants of flu I actually think the opposite is true, which is why we need a new flu vaccine every single year.
I think covid will be exactly the same, there will always be new variants now, next year and forever. So for me it's either we can travel once the vulnerable are vaccinated or we literally never travel abroad again!
You keep mentioning the vulnerable, being vulnerable means your at more risk of being hospitalised , being 'fit and healthy' does not mean your at.no risk, omly less.
Ive seen.it first hand mate , my wife works on a ward that up until 2 weeks ago was a covid ward in Jimmy Cooks. She has plenty of stories of those who.thought they were above the virus.
One that stands out for me was a 29 yesr old bloke back in November thought he had a cold. Less than 3 weeks later my wife and her colleagues wete wrapping his body in sheets.
.

Don’t see why anyone would want to go anyway, can’t think of any holiday destination that will be free of restrictions, so a holiday under some sort of lockdown will surely be pointless.

With other variants about, I’d much rather foreign travel wasn’t allowed, will significantly reduce the chance of further lockdowns by the winter

I realise that anyone can be affected by covid and I have nothing but admiration for people like your wife who are dealing with it all.
But its not me that keeps referring to the vulnerable. Its-The World Health Organisation, its every single aspect of the media and every government and politician from the start of the pandemic until now. It's an undisputed undeniable fact that if you are elderly or have an underlying health condition you are hundreds and hundreds of times more vulnerable. The last time I checked the estimated risk of a person under 40 with no health problems dying of covid were 1 in 37,000, that may have changed since then mind.

I apologise i didnt mean to make it sound as i did.

ooooooooh - off the top of my head - Malaga

well thanks for considering everyone else then - just as well other people actually want a life
Off topic, Malaga airport is the only airport i have flown into or out of that i cannot remember a thing about.
When flying out to join the cruise ship a few yesrs back in Malaga i camt recall the journey in, the landing, passport control, getting the luggage however i do recall being on the coach going to the port.
I dont drink when flying so i cant blame that 😫

Is Malaga completely free of restrictions?

Allowing foreign travel before the rest of the world is vaccinated is going to result in further lockdowns, is that really worth it for 2 weeks holiday?

At least they seem to be charging reasonable prices. A friend of mine who doesn't want to have the vaccinne(thats another story) wants to visit here cousin in the Canaries. She priced up getting vaccine before she went here, before the return and the two tests back in UK so she doesn't need full quarantine. It was going to add £400 to the cost of here holiday which she cannot afford. She travels quite a lot so that would soon add up. Thats crazy, bad enough for people travelling alone but how do families afford outlays like that.

Think the prohibitive cost is pushing her towards getting vaccine.

There was a really interesting analysis in the Sunday Times yesterday. 186 people in the age group 20-29 have died within 28 days of a Covid test in the last 12 months. Of that 186, 167 had some other condition or conditions, or died of accidents. That group is 8.5 million, so Covid only deaths alone were 19 from 8.5 million. That's about one in half a million. Lottery odds. Well almost.

Exactly this, got to find a balance. Great graphic the Times used to display it in proportion, wish I could show it here.
