To me it's about as interesting as a pub karaoke contest. The musical "talent" on show is questionable at best and the politics in the voting is sickening. I really don't see the point.

Whilst that might be true, pub karaoke can be fun. Plus there’s all the points at the end which is a little bit exciting. I don’t see any harm in Eurovision though, usually watch it just for the craic and the fact that everyone’s taking about it, feels like an “event”. Like to have a little flutter too.

Only ever bet on it once in 2016. Germany had selected a song, but due to some anti sematic statements by the artist they canned it and went for a selection by a public vote. Tobias Sammett threw his hat into the ring with Avantasias Mystery of a Blood Red Rose, first track on their new album. When I heard this I went to Ladbrokes, they had to ring up for special odd to get a quote. Considering the song had not been selected yet got 9/1
Song came third in selection. The German song selected that year came last in the final. Very shortsighted by the German public as most of Europe's metal music listeners would have voted for it.
As a friend said in his album review best Meatloaf song he never sang. There were reports it was written for him

Well we have had it all on stage from just about all the LGBT brigade. Lets see what we get tonight. It's a long way from wearing bare feet on stage, she was right rebel that Sand Shaw.
 
Buffet and beers tonight for us tonight, it’s always a good laugh in our house. Actually watched the semi finals this year, some decent songs in the final tonight.

Finland and Ukraine are my tips, have a feeling Iceland might win a few votes just for how good their song was last year that never happened.
 
However good a song the Royaume Uni everhas, we will will finish near the bottom. You could have Ed Sheeren, Adele, Dua Lipa or Stormzy representing us and few would vote for us with any sort of decent mark, maybe a token 1 or 2 from Greece and Malta. Pointless us taking part these days.


As for the winner, no idea, I don’t care really, but I quite like Belgium & Sweden’s entries.
 
Yes, always watch it. Even whilst our families are all in different houses these days it still feels like an event thing that we've always done together. Mam still gets her scoring chart out for it.

We do always send along dreadful acts tbf. Its scarcely ever someone you've actually heard of, and when it is, it's the likes of Engelbert Humperdink who've never been seen for 50 odd years.

We've been mid table the last few competitions I think. Germany usually rock bottom ever since Merkel invited syrian refugees. 😬
