Ever wondered what it is like inside Middlesbrough Old Town Hall - St Hilda's?

What is happening to it Rob?

It looks like a wonderful building.
The council have put together a regeneration bid to the heritage lottery.
They are looking at a guaranteed longterm use for the building so it would be a digital hub to work alongside the other Boho developments that are already there or are coming on stream around it.
It is a carefully considered plan to reuse a building that has been 24/7 securely mothballed for over 30 years now.
So a former 19th century new town hub would be a 21st century digital hub. But there would also be space for Steve Waller's St Hilda's model and it will be centre of a new (digital) heritage trail being worked on now.
Am also talking to them about possibly incorporating some history element. There is a lot of 19th century history and possibly medieval around that building. How can we tell those stories? And how do we make it part of the future of St Hilda's.
I always find people are totally fascinated by St Hilda's. It is Middlesbrough's origin story. Can that help in a successful future?

Such a real shame its been left to rot.
Would make a great live music venue Rob

There has been 24/7 security around it for years to ensure it isn't torched.
That will have not come cheap. Let's hope they are successful with the bid. If not the council will look to use levelling up money to ensure it is at least made structurally sound.
